Hello gurus.

I'm currently in Sydney and have a domestic flight booked from Canberra to Melbourne this Friday. I'm passing through Sydney Airport tomorrow (Thursday) and was wondering, based on your experience, can the Qantas ground staff at Sydney assist with changing my Canberra to Melbourne flight to an earlier one? Or would I need to speak to the Qantas team at Canberra Airport on the day of my flight?

I think they will most likely ask you to call the contact centre or wait until you're at Canberra Airport

Ive never had any trouble having my flight changed at the departing airport, even when it's a lowest fare ticket. It’s definitely possible, it just depends on the mood of the staff on the day, doesn’t it?

The airport staff are unlikely to help unless it is the day of travel and/or there are irregular ops. They'll ask you to call the contact center.

The airport staff won't be able to do a thing until your flight is under "airport control".

That's when it's pretty close to departing.

Even then, what they can do might be limited.

The lounge staff, if you have access, can, IME, have more options close to the original flight.
