Airport security agent spilled ashes of man's grandfather - then laughed

A bit insensitive . I would assume the passenger would have told the agent the urn contained ashes.
 
A few things don't quite stack up here, not least of all that the story is in the Daily Mail.
Reading between the lines it looks like the passenger has brought part of the ashes of a relative who was cremated ten years ago as carry on. The ashes as pictured appear to be in a small jar with a handwritten label.
I think it is a least doubtful that the container was recognizable as a urn from a crematorium with the appropriate documentation.
Whilst having some sympathy with the passenger for the distress caused to him, I'm not surprised that the TSA wanted to inspect the contents.
