Airport nightmare as ill passenger 'ignored by Jetstar'

Something doesn't sound quite right about that story. Either the passenger was too ill to go on the flight and should return to the hospital or clinic, or they were trying to "DYKWIA" to have her situation get them priority on the next flight. Equally probable that news is only reporting the parts of this story that make JQ look bad.

The point is that LCCs like Jetstar will do as little as possible to assist passengers with special needs. She was certified to fly but was obviously not in the best condition, and a decent airline would recognise that flight delays would impact her more than most and try their best to look after her. Jetstar just aren't set up that way and often have to be shamed into doing the right thing.

And the fact that News (sic) get to beat up on the Qantas group is irrelevant.

The news report stated that they were originally booked on QF 32, should it not have been the responsibility of QF to prioritise them?

Ridiculous - What could they do for her apart from directing her to the Airport clinic?? I wouldn't even expect to be rebooked at no charge if I missed a flight due to illness but it seems they extended this courtesy as good-will and still copped flak from this selfish and silly passenger.

I agree. If you get sick at SIN, then go to the clinic and be seen by the doctor and take it from there. Tell Jetstar what you have decided to do.

I suspect the passenger was at the gate and may have been looking to get out and get help at a clinic, with no one available to tell her how to do so!

The pregnant woman was to fly on JQ28 HKT-SYD.The flight was cancelled.JQ arranged for her to fly to SIN and was to fly QF32 SIN-SYD-to me this is much more than JQ had to do.It appears they went out of their way to get her back to SYD.
Now of course it is JQs fault that as they were arranging this one of those RR engines decided to disintegrate and QF32 is cancelled so now she has to wait for a JQ flight-again they seem to have gone out of their way to once again make sure she got a seat where many others were missing out.
Now she gets sick in the gate area.Sorry but to be there she and her family have BPs.Simply go to the desk and inform the agent you are going to the clinic. As she had been admitted to hospital in Thailand and her husband is quoted as saying he wanted to call an ambulance but his wife wouldn't let him.My goodness how is this JQs fault? With BPs you can easily return to the gate.If a serious problem i would expect the clinic would notify JQ.Whilst in the gate areas at SIN I have seen people leave and come back.
Reading between the lines did this family have travel insurance? Were they worried by the cost?Did they expect JQ to arrange free medical treatment?

I couldn't have said it more precise.

It is not JQ's fault - the PAX is responsible for their own well being, if they are sick they need to take destiny into their own two hands and act like responsible adults.

Couldn't agree more

What is this country coming to, have the majority become so useless that they require simple actions concerning their own well being to be conducted by someone else.

I think this is another NO NEWS story...

Im still contemplating a NO NEWS . com blog or similar so we can actually document the rubbish plated up on the general public of Australia, if for nothing else but comedy purpose...

The passenger didn't have special needs, she was pregnant but like anyone else can still get sick. Being certified to fly but not in the best condition is contradictory - you're simply ok to fly or you're not.

Was she certified to fly or are you just assuming that to be the case because she'd already been in hospital in coughet & she was now booked on a flight. Just because someone has been released from hospital does not mean they have completed the necessary medical clearance forms.

As others have said is she was sick she should've gone to the airport clinic and told JQ that she wouldn't be travelling on that flight end of story.

There are plenty or irresponsible people out there who try and board flights when they are not medically fit to do so then if challenged fail to take responsibility & try & hand ball the blame back on to the airline for their own stupidity.

Ignorance is bliss.
