Airlines with live TV on board

Yes, it would likely be a dedicated channel being broadcast on a satellite rather then using the internet connection and dealing with overheads and other issues related to that.

Live TV has been around for years and years, even before the advent of in flight internet. DJ Live2Air service anyone? Did that work off the existing Foxtel/Austar satellite or was there a separate one?
Yes, existing. I was trying to recall which local airline had it! How could I forget flying across the Bight only to lose reception for the rest of the flight to PER….😁

IIRC the live tv concept was pioneered by B6. And how about the nosegear incident at LAX where the pax were watching the live news coverage of their flight as they circled off the coast.

Of course, I have seen that Live TV on board many years ago (since 2000)!

I remember - when there was a live TV news re: US Airways crash-landing in Hudson River on my Virgin Blue flight - just before took off. It has been repeated many times. My seatmate was not comfortable to watch it and tried to find a button to turn that PTV off.

I can't remember which airlines that offer Netflix!

Has anyone recently flown Singapore Airlines on an A380 and seen whether they have Sport24 onboard? This link says that it's available on "Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 737-8 as well as selected Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-300ER"... but no mention of A380.

I'm flying with SQ on Friday night and am keen to watch the NRL quarter final in the air. 😊

AA selection yesterday B738 BZN to ORD. Over the wifi so probably available on most/ all domestic routes.
