Hi all,

As many of you might know, some airlines require to see the actual credit card that a passenger used to book their ticket online. As it is the requirement of Malaysia Airlines for
its domestic booking.

I have been trying to book three tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Penang today and guess
what, the credit cards that belong to each passenger got denied. To make the matter worst when I checked the credits balances, MH withdrew money from accounts as well.
I called them and they said each declined process will require the money to be pended.
Money will be rebated but it can take up to three months.
Is that stupid or what?

If the credit card is belong to the passenger (basically name on the credit card is the same as the name on eticket) and there is no problem with withdrawing money, how come they decline the payment!!!!!!????????

I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem with MH website or any other airline's website?

Any solutions or suggestions greatly appreciated.

many thanks.

About 18 months ago I booked some domestic flights on MH website without dramas, and about 2 weeks I booked some not-quite-but-almost domestic flights (SIN-KUL-SIN) on MH website again no problems at all.

In this situation, sometimes it is better to book via an online travel agent (eg expedia.com.au or zuji.com.sg). Helps avoid the credit card check etc.

Mal!... Looking for clarification...

Having booked quite an extensive trip for a friend (ABQ-ORD-LHR-JNB-WVB etc etc:lol:) on Expedia using MY credit card, I was somewhat concerned that UA (operating first 2 flights of itin) would want to see the CC.... several recent posters on FT have said UA did ask for the purchase card....

Are you suggesting that booking through a 3rd party removes any such CC check???? That'd be handy....

Welcome to AFF mqe23

When you said funds were deducted from the credit cards, was there an actual transaction? or was it more of a pending transaction ie your availability credit is reduced but not yet appearing on your statement?

If its the latter, it might be that the pending $$$ will just rescind itself in a couple of days.

If its the former, than yes, I'd lodge a complaint with MH to expedite the refund of the $$$ given the booking engine said it was rejected and it's MH's fault (despite the usual refund period of upto 12 weeks as with most airlines).

As with MH - I had a problem with my recent booking where they refused to accept my Visa - because it would not accept the VBV details which I'm sure was entered correctly.

Well that's a surprise to me. As a 1K and 1.7 million miler who flies at least 40-50 sectors with UA every year (10 so far this year) I haven't been asked to show my credit card for many years.

But wait, maybe that's because I'm 1K, MM.

Either way, I can't see it being a problem.
