Airline craft changes

I would like to book an award in J on Air India from Sydney but i am nervous that there might be a craft change at the last minute and i will no longer have a flat bed seat. I have bad arthritis and really worry about that long flight in a bad seat. It would be a United Mileage Plus award on a partner carrier, so there would be no way to cancel at the last minute. I know Thai doesnt bat an eyelid at craft changes and i realise it can happen with any airline. How much risk am i taking?

Not much risk, Air India don't have aircraft that can do the job apart from the 787s IIRC, so they are unlikely to sub a different aircraft.

They do have 77W's and 777-200LRs that could do the job, albeit not as economically as the 787. Also have other 777s and do they still have 747s? So other aircraft could do the job - but they are needed elsewhere - so very unlikely to sub something else.

Certainly not TG where you could have any one of 3 or 4 aircraft type/configs operating a route at random.

thanks, and i guess i can check online to see if there has been a craft change up till 24 hours before, when i can remember how to do that
