I have been invited by our travel agency to an aircraft inspection (BA) - I understand this is a promo to show equipment/service (747 and 777) and off course market themselves but was wondering if these things are worth doing. Never been in F class (other than walking through it on my way to the whY end of the plane) so that could be nice to see.

Any experiences ??

I really like the BA first product. It has always been good when we have traveled using BA, and I sleep well in their seats.

They are revamping First class both hard and soft product, but information is thin on the ground.

I have seen a very dark "photocopied" looking pdf file of the new seat which looks like a cleaner looking seat, but in the same vein as the current ones - no suites as such.

New amenities are out and new food concepts are coming.

But no real media releases on timetables.

I fly with them again in November - maybe it will be delivered by then?

It's all a matter of personal preference, but I dislike the "face to face" seating arrangement in J. Although you can use the divider to avoid having to stare at your neighbour, this can get awkward if you are UD on the aisle and want to look out.

Exception to be noted: if you neighbour is a female of the good looking persuasion :p

I assume you would also get a look on the flight deck which is that bit harder these days with the inflight security precautions. Also asking to see crew quarters give you a behind the scenes understanding of what goes on. Then your TA puts on some drinks and nibblies and you have a good night talking flight stories. Sounds like a fun afternoon to me.

I saw a BA inspection by travel agents once on Aircraft or one of those BBC shows. Went through the whole cabin plus flight deck and the crew rest area.
A way of exposing the on flight offerings I guess.
Not something I'd rush to do unless the plane actually flew to a destination.
Enjoy ;)

If you get the right seat, say 64A, the feel is so very private, pretty much like an actual F suite.
I would have to say that BA J is my favorite of the OW J products - i always request 64A and very commonly get it. Also if your traveling with a partner the lower deck middle J seats E and F are great!

As an agent ive done a few, mainly SQ and QF, you get to see all classes, sit in the seats, see the coughpit etc, though cant ever recall seeing the crew rest areas.

Theyre good fun, im an airline nut so happy to do them when they come up, next month im doing a behind the scenes tour at BNE Intl which should be interesting.
