Dear xx_x,

The past few weeks have been the most difficult weeks of my life since starting AirAsia 13 years ago.

I wanted to reach out and thank you for the warmth and support given to all of us. Your messages of love and encouragement strengthen our resolve to be better. We will continue to provide updates as the investigation goes on.

Rest assured, we are committed to reviewing and improving our products and services. We are more focused than ever to provide you with nothing but the best.

Even in our toughest times, we will continue to be the world's best and be better for you.

Together with my 17,000 AirAsia Allstars, we ask that you join us in praying for the family members and loved ones of those on board QZ8501.

#togetherwestand

Love,

Although I can sympathise that he is in a difficult position and this probably was not written by him, rather his PR team? I think this is a bit cheesy and ill-timed, with the wreckage just being pulled out and no cause determined yet.

A simple Thank you for your support email would have been more appropriate, I think this was triggered by cancellations and/or slow down in forward bookings.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Plenty have criticised MH for lack of communication, I personally thought it good he reached out and this largely hit the right note.

When I got this I thought this would be an incredible hard letter to write and largely a no-win (for some reason we all seem to think we are great at communication, even when I can guarantee the evidence is otherwise). Knowing how to sign off would be hard but the more common (Regards etc.) seem fairly remote and impersonal. So for me, congrats to him for keeping it personal. Love, yeah maybe not but then I prefer to most other endings I can think of.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's a disgrace. Why would he bother?

I wondered if it was a cultural thing as well, but I can't find any reference to it on line, and I've never met a Malaysian who would use the term for general friendship.
That said, I have to agree with Markis, if there is one thing the world could do with more of right now, it's love.
