Thinking of flying them from Washington DC down to Florida, direct. Anyone had a good experience and also, can we take a suitcase each without making special payments for luggage?

AirTran is owned by Southwest Airlines these days but they still charge for bags unlike their parent.

You're better off looking at Southwest Airlines instead if you need to check a bag for free (2 x 23kg bags per passenger free).

I agree with the posters above. I would check out more options. But yes, with Southwest the first 2 bags with a 23kg max each are free. I am on an iPad so I can't copy the URL and there's no way I can type it out. However, if you go to wwww.southwest.com and type in, 'optional travel charges' in the search engine on the right hand corner of the page the first result will tell you all their other charges.

If you do decide to fly with them, I would personally pay for the Early Bird Check-in fee if you don't buy a Business Select fee. But If you don't care when you board or where you put you carry on luggage then I wouldn't bother.

Thanks everyone, all booked through Air Tran with baggage included. Wish we could fly within Australia at these prices, especially from where I live in Central Aus.
