Air Traffic Control Strikes in Europe

Can you provide a summary? It's paywalled unfortunately. Sounds grim.
It’s grim all right
“Controllers at Eurocontrol, the European air traffic management body, revealed that they would walk out over the peak summer period after talks over staffing, rosters and pay broke down.

An industry source said it could lead to delays or cancellations of up to 12,600 flights across Europe every day. “In a full-blown strike, 20 to 30 per cent of flights would be at least delayed,” the source said. “They are big numbers.”

Sources said a first wave of strikes was set to be announced on Monday. Officials at the organisation believe action is now “inevitable” and will target the start of the main school holiday period in England and Europe.”

That’s a bit of it. I’ll keep looking for an alternative link.

EDIT: Try this one The Daily Mail

Well what an interesting time for me. We are due to fly Vie-jtr next Tuesday, and then Jtr-ath-fco on next Friday. I hope we don't get stuck because of the strikes....

Like you @kamchatsky, we have a number of fights through European ports in the next fortnight: CDG, LYS, MAD, LIS, BCN, LHR, BRU, ZRH, FRA.
As the announcement states affected dates will only be released on Monday, I’m hoping this means they’ll be well enough into the future to not affect our travel; maybe targeted at August as the main holiday month?

Whereas I hope the strikes are in July and all back to normal come August when Im flying in Europe

For me no strike in July and they can strike all they want in August. I guess we are all playing Russian roulette here.

Well they can strike in August but just not on the 3 days Im flying into or out of EU airspace.

I assume flying into LHR from DFW wont be impacted, as shoudln't need to fly over EU, but I have a LHR-DUB, DUB-HEL and HEL-JFK which could be impacted.

Was kind hoping after the first day of disruptions some sort of deal would be struck to avoid ongoing issues.

Guess hold breath and see wat happens.

I will be flying in both months so October for me. I just wish companies and in some case's employees were reasonable and there was more limits on public transport strikes.

French ATC are always on strike....but if its all of Eurocontrol that would be problematic.
