Air Canada RJ impact with ground vehicle, at least 2 fatalities

Not much out overnight from the NTSB other than some preliminary releases.

Couple of interesting bits
- First call of *Stop" wasn't broadcast until 4 secs before collision
- Fire trucks (and other ground vehicles) in US not required and indeed here not equipped with radar beacons or automated collision warning systems - would seem an obvious safety recommendation, particularly for night ops
- Were two controllers in the tower but not yet clear what responsibilities each had at the specific time

I wonder what state the engines were in after it came to a stop? Still running, or did the damage in the coughpit area cause them to shut down.
I did read somewhere that they had shut down.

Update from Juan Browne, including written time-line from NTSB and discussion of the new tech designed to help prevent stuff like human error such as may have occurred here - 'Airport Surface Detection Equipment' etc.

Actually, the first 'truck 1 stop' was 9 seconds before impact - this timeline is from the above video , but on the audio it wasn't very clear (link to ATC in posts above).
