Air Canada has announced direct flights. I think this is great!

Non-stop Canada to Australia flights - Breaking News - Business - Breaking News
Air Canada says its daily non-stop flight into Sydney, which will begin next month, will stimulate additional demand for travel between the two countries.
Air Canada's vice-president international, alliances and regulatory, Yves Dufresne, said the Sydney-to-Vancouver flight, which begins on 16 December, would make it "simple to stimulate traffic between our countries".
He said rather than taking away market share from competitors, the daily flights would generate additional demand.
He said Qantas, which operated flights to Vancouver via Los Angeles and San Francisco, would be Air Canada's major competitor on the route.
"We haven't really assessed what our market share will be as yet. Obviously we will do our very best to fill our aircraft," Mr Dufresne said.
The airline will use 777-300ERs next month and replace them with 777-200LRs from 1 February, which have 42 first class and 228 economy class seats.
The direct flight shaves more than three hours from the one-stop current service via Honolulu and enables Australian travellers to avoid US Customs and Security procedures.
