Is that website theirs? It seems to be a price comparison site.....

Assuming you are talking about the airline formally known as Strategic their website is Air Australia is coming soon

The .com.au appears to be a domain squatter.

I quite like their logo and colour scheme.

Surprised they've launched without a working website. Not a good start from an organisational point of view...

I agree about the colour scheme and logo - nice and fresh looking, although I'm not wild about the font.

Whoops. Meant to link to airaustralia.com not .com.au...

Incidentally, every LCC seems to have a different colour:

Shame they didn't continue the boomerang on the tail across the fuselage vs. chopping the tip off where they did.

I'm sure some graphic designer will be able to justify this.

Nice livery, but I wish someone would ban the use of boomerangs as marketing devices. Really takes me back to the mid 70s when everything 'aussie' had a boomerang on it. Kind of looks like a dishwashing detergent bottle though.....or is that just me...

Naw, just you

I like the engine colouring, that looks gooood. The rest looks a bit washed out! (Well to me anyway).

They do Bris to HNL, prices on their strategic web site.

Yes, it seems I was too hasty in believing that excert from the MEL Age!

It seems they will indeed be offering J class with included meal and 30kg of luggage. A sample BNE-HNL in J looks like around $1100- $1200.

Well I wish them all the best. IF they can make a go of it servicing routes for Aussies on holiday then so much the better. I wonder if they will update the interiors later? Would be cool to see lime green seats in the back, gold in the front (I love Thai's bright rainbow interior) Surprised they've kept J to be honest. I expected a one class configuration. But I suppose they've learned that lesson from the other LCCs, J class does sell and it's worthwhile. All the long haul LCCs have it. I have to say I'd be willing to fork out the extra to sit in the more spacious cabin. Even the old interior, while obviously old, still looks servicable and ok.

Its an excellent price to HNL in J compared to all others, be good way of getting to mainland too, only thing that concerns me is how reliable they are?. We are off tomorrow to SYD/HNL with JQ, their so called J for both wife/self paid $4300 (normally about $9K), but really JQ in J are PE seats.

Planning trip to 4 US mainland cities Sept 2012, might have to consider Air Australia BNE/HNL/BNE then AA for rest.

The huge problem I forsee for Air Australia is their fleet size and the corresponding service reliability and regularity. Strategic had a massive problem when one of their (only?) A330s had to be taken out for maintenance and people were stranded in coughet for 5+ days. Because they only had a few aircraft they were unable to simply rotate another in to bring people home. There was lots of negative media coverage because this small airline could not handle the problem.

It will be a bit of a Catch 22 because they will not be able to grow their fleet size and services quickly because there will not be the demand and there will not be the demand because of the small fleet size and services. If they are serious about a reliable domestic and 'bogan overseas' leisure network I would like to see them delay their start date and then start with more planes and more services than gradually try things bit by bit. I would like to see 6 or 7 A320s for domestic and 5 A330s for International and 'start with a bang'. They have a great opportunity to jump onto those routes Tiger used to fly (i.e. hub out of Adelaide). I don't know why they are going for business routes like Melbourne-Brisbane when I think all 4 other domestic airlines already fly these and have many services each day? What about ADL-OOL, MEL-CNS, MEL-OOL?

If I had 1 weeks leave to pop up to Bali or Thailand I would not choose AA for the fear that if my flight is cancelled I would either be stuck at home and miss my holiday or stuck overseas and not be able to get back to work. I would rather pay a bit more to fly JQ or VA who have plenty of aircraft to get me home.

I wish them well, and like the livery but for the reasons above I don't see them being much of a threat to VA, JQ and TT.

I suppose the reason for the launch with a handful of aircraft is the same as the reason for the old interiors....money. Sure it would be nice to start with a fleet of 10, but where will they get these aircraft from? They are not cashed up and have no choice except to go with what they've got. Many airlines started with less than 5 aircraft. DJ only had 2 on launch day. I am surprised they are not trying to build up their existing routes with greater frequency, Bali and coughet to try and become the preferred carrier in those routes before attempting to go across the pacific. Equally surprised they haven't offloaded their A330s in favour of a single fleet type, the A320. Most airlines fly a single aisle jet to their primary destinations from Oz. A330 just seems to be a bigger aircraft than their market really warrants.

In regard to Aust. airlines J pricing its not just a bit more on other airlines, start at double.

Must agree, would be chancing it with so few planes if a breakdown occurred, however, if they gave an undertaking of pax flying back with another airline at their cost (should they be grounded) then it would be totally different ball game, can't see it happening though.

Would you really want to fly a narrow-body for 6+ hours to South-East Asia?

I flew DJ HKT-PER earlier this year and it was one of the most horrible flights I have ever suffered through. I personally do not think narrow-bodies are suitable for flights longer than about 4 hours. If given a choice between a JQ 330 and a AA 320 MEL-HKT I would always choose a 330.

For this reason I also think Qantas's RedQ have chosen the wrong type of aircraft.
