Last year, I remember seeing a route map that has some European destinations on it, like Prague. This would have been perfect for me, as I could fly OOL-KUL-PRG. My question is, what happened to them flying to Prague? And is it going ahead? I can't find a means of contacting them by telephone and they did not reply to my email.

Asian budget airline sees delays

Air Asia wants to offer long-haul tickets from around £40

Travellers keen to use a new long-haul budget carrier linking Europe to Asia will have to wait - following problems at Airbus.

The firm announced that it would start a service between Malaysia and the UK in July, with return tickets costing between $80 and $450 (£41-£231). But Air Asia X has put the new service on hold - probably until next year, possibly until August 2008. The reason? A problem described by a spokesman as a "minor technical issue" - no planes.

Thank you. That is a real let down. I need to travel to Prague for 3 months between Nov08 and Feb09, and am not sure whether I should wait and risk ot, hoping they will start flying then and offer some good deals, or just secure a flight on BA/QF. :o

You can still look at full service options that are cheap, dont limit your ideas...
eg to Frankfurt and train, or via maybe Helsinki, just check out the options, i doubt you will pay too much more than LCC is you are not dead set on flying into Prague on one ticket.

I have family there, so I guess they could pick me up from one of the neighbouring countries.

It's not that I can't afford to fly a full service carrier, but I think of it as the cheaper I get the ticket this time, the sooner/or the more times I can go to visit again. :) It would have been nice to get a ticket with them, as I haven't tried them out. And their routing is beautiful.

When I went in 06, I flew SYD-KUL-Vienna and I got picked up from there. Shame Austrian Airlines don't fly the route anymore.
