Apologies to Mel, but simply couldn't find a spot to post my question.

Could Dave or anyone else tell me what plane AirAsiaX are using for their Melbourne - Kuala Lumpa flights.

Now, before you say...its an A330-300, the flight number is D7 2723 and my Air Asia view/change seating shows a wide-body seat configuration in economy (3+4+3). This is inconsistent with all the A330-300 layouts I have seen on SeatGuru. I can find no useful information on their website.

If anyone has been fortunate enough to fly on such a plane or route, and you can tell me for certain what is please drop a reply.
Cheers

Re: Cancellation fees with Bestflights

Oops, the economy seating config is 3+3+3 across the plane.

There is a "new thread" button at the top of the page :)

But to answer your question Air Asia X use A330 in a 3-3-3 config which is one extra seat compared to most other airlines.... 2-4-2 config.
I would not be keen on taking a flight, but may not be as bad as it sounds (Assuming your not as large as I) since i believe the isle size is reduced and no doubt the window person is closer to the windows and the armrests are slimmer but the actual seat bottom width is only reduced about 7mm IIRC.

Re: Cancellation fees with Bestflights

Hi Evan

Thanks.
I assume that the location of galley and toilets is unchanged.

We got a pair of free flights to KLL (plus taxes + charges), which is a landing point on our flight to coughet (also free), but Thai airport tax is a bit steep. Never mind, we've got free accommodation in coughet, but have to listen to 90mins of hard-sell timeshare cough. Doesn't matter...the sharemarket collapse has got all our money anyway.

Cheers

This i am not sure, i am not sure i have seen a layout, only some photos of the cabin. I would assume it is different from say QF since there is not the same sort of business class, my guess would be toilets middle and down the back, galley may only be down the front, do they serve much food ? if not then it is possible not a large galley.

Can't help you with Air Asia X seat layout but have you done extensive research on timeshare presentations in Thailand? There are many horror stories floating around of people been bullied to spend thousands of dollars after the presentation. Some of them, those that have paid by credit card, have been lucky to get their money back while others are not so fortunate.

The best advice is it does not matter how good it sounds stay away from anyone offering anything for free in Thailand....

Thanks for the reply JohnK

Yeah, I've heard some horror stories also. But it doesn't matter what they say or do, or how much they nag...I've got no money left after the stockmarket crash. Its in a f$^ing big hole in the ground.

The free AirAsia flights were too good to pass up. Even scored two free Tiger flights from CBR to Melb to link with the AirAsia flights to KLL. However, nothing is really free with Tiger. I suspect I'll have to flap a bit as we're taking off, and stick the feet out as we're landing.
