Air Asia seems to have launched a new frequent flyer program with 3 status tiers. Red is the base level, and you can earn Gold, Platinum or Black status by flying a certain number of "qualifying segments" on Air Asia within a 12-month period.

It looks to me like the only advantage of holding status is that you earn BIG points at a higher rate - so it doesn't seem particularly useful in my opinion. YMMV.
