Okay. Good Wine Lover people. It's time to make your final booking at the 13 May Cabernet dinner in Sydney.

Bar Reggio is locked in. It's a great Italian, a 10 minute walk from the CBD, renowned for its group meals and relaxed atmosphere.

We even have booked local celebrity, DrSammyLee (the man who started the mof_ thread that spurned the gazillion posts and views it has to date). We even have interstate celebrities too, with none other than Penegal and Steady coming, along with the hugely knowledgeable Delectable Blue.

I also hear there are some amazing Cabernets. We have an 06 legend that's a star attraction on the Langtons scene. There's a 97 pointer beast of a wine from a famous Aussie winery. And no doubt there's more great wines, young, old, reasonably priced and Exy.

So far, I have 11 confirmed with a booking for 12. I'm sure I can bump it up, but probably only if I do so in the next week. If you haven't responded so far, and would love to join us, then please let me know.

Date: Friday, 13 May 2016

Time: 6:30 pm onwards

Venue: Bar Reggio - Darlinghurst, Sydney

Theme: Cabernet Sauvignon

What to bring: you, and 2 bottles of the same Cab Sauv (straight or dominant blend) (one concealed). Plus bring cash.

Likely cost: around $40 a head including corkage

How to book: PM me your confirmation and email address in the next 7 days

Dear Friends

Another wine inspired dinner has been organised for Sydney. The last one in January was such good fun. And there were so many great people connecting over some lovely wines.

Details of the May event are above.

If you would would like to join us, then we would love to see you there. You don't have to be a wine buff or bring anything fancy.

Please PM me and post here if you can make it.

Another AFF legend. We should re-name the dinner! We have a legendary grape theme. And now we have some legendary AFFs attending too!

Glad you can make it, RooFlyer.

It should be a great night. See you then. And really looking forward to meeting you.

Warm regards,

Wozza

Excellent news RooFlyer

Just realised we now have 3 people travelling up from Tasmania! [Rooflyer, Steady and Delectable Blue]. Maybe PM each other to see if you are traveling together.

See you all soon ...

Doh! Still out of the country then. Returning on Sunday. Probably for the best, the only wine I have in Sydney is a Rockford black shiraz.

You must have seen the small, small print, Medhead - anybody can break the rules if they are bringing Black Shiraz...!!

Sorry you cannot join us. There will be more in the future. Hopefully see you at one of those (theme: Shiraz - so you can bring the Black!).

Crikey, a shiraz 'do' would bring out some gems. Maybe we could try for a Black Shiraz vertical tasting?

We'll make it Shiraz next then. Although, rumour has it that Steady has acquired all the Black Shiraz at the last Buzzard tour, so maybe he'll have to supply the stock for that fantastic vertical tasting...!!

Watch this space for August or September...

Completely Off topic, but Black Shiraz was on sale at the cellar door on Monday (2 May) 3 bottles per customer.

It is not my fault - I planned on skipping the Black Shiraz but then they served it at the correct temp as we stepped off the bus and I simply could not abstain

We have a lock in!

14 people will have the chance to try 16 Cab Sauvs in Sydney next Friday evening. As we share a meal, great wine, chit-chat and life. No doubt they'll be a bit of banter too, especially if I pour wine all over the tables, like I did last time (I was Silver Service trained in my student days. Honestly!).

JMPhoto has kindly organised the first wines. Not sure what they are yet, but one's from Koonara. The other from Raidis Estate. Talking of Coonawarra Cabs. The region and wines are getting a good dollop of PR in the hard and email versions of Wine Companion this month / weekend. There's some great reads, if you are a subscriber. Raidis gets a mention, I saw.

In terms of the other 14 wines, there's some classics. Surprisingly, there's many Cabs being represented from outside Coonawarra. None from overseas yet. There's two Langtons classified wines. A (young) Halliday 97 pointer. A 16 year old Coonawarra. A $90 wine. Many over 7 years. And some of our mof_ (younger) favourites. It's a diverse range, celebrating the rich diversity of Cab Sauvs this fine country has to offer. And, I'm still waiting to hear from 4 people. So no doubt that diversity will continue.

For those that need to respond, please do so offline. If you didn't get my email, then please PM me through this forum.

See you all next Friday...
