I completely missed the mark. I saw the original post with no responses and thought that everyone else, like me, thought
Winchester was having a bad day and wouldn't bother responding - so now I see 5 pages and
wow - it's great to see online discussions, and I for one also agree that this site and the twitter account are the property of
admin and he is free to use them how he sees fit.
I also believe that
Winchester has the right to question any such posts, and of course disagree vehemently if he too sees fit
If you believe that AFF tweeting against live animal exports is okay then how would you feel if AFF tweeted any of the following
- NBN will be massive white elephant and billions down the drain
- the NBN is an investment in Australia's future, only luddites would block it
- Gillard had her chance now its time for her to go
Or any other controversial opinion for that matter. Because like the comment on live animal exports these are all opinions.
Actually I wouldn't care. I no doubt will either agree or disagree, but again it is
his account and if it really upset me I could always leave AFF (or just lurk!).
It's it obvious from his avatar? With horns like that, he's scared of being live exported himself!

LMAO! Now
that it funny
I don’t believe anyone thinks that the tweet represents the collective opinion of the AFF Community (whatever that is). If you feel that the tweet misrepresents your opinion, then put up a post distancing yourself from the tweet.
The answer here is that
there is no collective opinion. By nature of being a
discussion forum - opinions will differ. Some like QF, others VA - some love flying, and some loathe it.... The only person who has a right to voice their opinion using the AFF moniker is the person who owns it. That wouldn't be a collective opinion mind, as that is impossible - but his right.
If a post did say "AFF members all call for..." then I would shrug my shoulders and say to myself 'not this member' - or publicy denounce the comment if it offended me.
An interesting thought is this: had the post said "AFF (and members) call for the abolition of slavery and child abuse" would we have issues? It would be the closest we could get to a collective thought, but still not necessarily so (sadly) - but should
admin choose to say that - or argue against that even - it's the same as me saying "I don't like sweatshops" - personal opinion - whether others perceive it as his or ours: meh.
Finally (thank goodness) - websites promote opinions all the time (pro/anti-Monarchy, etc) - we have freedom of speech in this country... and I think that's a good thing.
Thanks all for listening - now go vote Liberal
