AFF twitter a/c tweeting political views

I don't believe raising the alarm about how cattle are slaughtered could be seen to be a political vierw by any stretch of the imagination.

Should we interfere with how the cattle are slaughtered?

Someone mentioned about fish tanks in restaurants or preparation of seafood in Asia. I have seen and heard crabs and prawns boiled alive. Is that humane? How about game hunters, fisherman etc. They do not always kill the prey first time and the prey may be suffering for a while before it dies.

By the way I did not say that I agree with what they are doing but it does not really concern me how my meat is killed as long as it is not halal....

I completely missed the mark. I saw the original post with no responses and thought that everyone else, like me, thought Winchester was having a bad day and wouldn't bother responding - so now I see 5 pages and wow - it's great to see online discussions, and I for one also agree that this site and the twitter account are the property of admin and he is free to use them how he sees fit.

I also believe that Winchester has the right to question any such posts, and of course disagree vehemently if he too sees fit :)

If you believe that AFF tweeting against live animal exports is okay then how would you feel if AFF tweeted any of the following
- NBN will be massive white elephant and billions down the drain
- the NBN is an investment in Australia's future, only luddites would block it
- Gillard had her chance now its time for her to go

Or any other controversial opinion for that matter. Because like the comment on live animal exports these are all opinions.

Actually I wouldn't care. I no doubt will either agree or disagree, but again it is his account and if it really upset me I could always leave AFF (or just lurk!).

It's it obvious from his avatar? With horns like that, he's scared of being live exported himself!

LMAO! Now that it funny ;)

I don’t believe anyone thinks that the tweet represents the collective opinion of the AFF Community (whatever that is). If you feel that the tweet misrepresents your opinion, then put up a post distancing yourself from the tweet.

The answer here is that there is no collective opinion. By nature of being a discussion forum - opinions will differ. Some like QF, others VA - some love flying, and some loathe it.... The only person who has a right to voice their opinion using the AFF moniker is the person who owns it. That wouldn't be a collective opinion mind, as that is impossible - but his right.

If a post did say "AFF members all call for..." then I would shrug my shoulders and say to myself 'not this member' - or publicy denounce the comment if it offended me.

An interesting thought is this: had the post said "AFF (and members) call for the abolition of slavery and child abuse" would we have issues? It would be the closest we could get to a collective thought, but still not necessarily so (sadly) - but should admin choose to say that - or argue against that even - it's the same as me saying "I don't like sweatshops" - personal opinion - whether others perceive it as his or ours: meh.

Finally (thank goodness) - websites promote opinions all the time (pro/anti-Monarchy, etc) - we have freedom of speech in this country... and I think that's a good thing.

Thanks all for listening - now go vote Liberal ;)

Wow.... Just wow.

So angry right now.

Want to rant so bad. Urge to tell people how stupid they are rising.

CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE SWALLOW cough FROM THE MEDIA VERBATIM.

Biting tongue.

Deep breath.

Woooooosaaaaaahhhh.

Live cattle exports... Like honestly people. 99% of the slaughterhouses in indonesia stun first, then kill via slitting the throat. I've got news for people, its not that different to how cattle are killed here in Australia - what do people think that in Australian slaughterhouses we wrap the cattle up in a hospital bed and wait for them to die a natural death.

I do concede that in Australia we put a mechanical bolt through the beast's head, then bleed, where as in indonesia they stun, then bleed. All in all its not that different.
Slaughterhouses are not nice places, but it is what we do to get meat. Chicken, Pork, Beef, Lamb its all the same. Everyone likes sausages but I can guarentee that no-one wants to see one made.

What Four Corners did was pick 3 or 4 bad ones and ignore the good ones. I've got news for you all, I could take a camera crew through Australian abbitoirs and do EXACTLY the same thing.

What we saw was not acceptable, but its by NO MEANS industry standard - Australian or Indonesian.

I'll admit now, i'm a card carrying member of the ALP and I think what the Australian Government did in banning cattle exports was wrong. What they did was grind a huge portion of North Australian Industry to a halt. It's still recovering.

As for those blithering idiots who say slaugter in Australia then send them over, answer me this 1. Where is there a slaughterhouse in Australian North of Rockhampton that could cope with these numbers AND is near a port 2. Where is the refridgeration in Indonesia to hold 2000 - 3000 carcass'.

Anyway, thats why I was so angry.

People jumped on the friggin bandwagon, without even considering what was REALLY going on.

People on here ALWAYS cough on and preach about how "No-News" got it wrong AGAIN blah blah blah but when its 4 corners, they swallowed it up and accepted it as doctrine... Talk about head in the sand syndrome...

Now i'm going to get abused by touchy feely inner-city types who are going to tell me i support animal cruelty.

Carded ALP member and a Collingwood supporter - wow, life really did take a bad turn for you... ;)
