AFF Review: Qantas (Finnair) A330-300 Business Class (SYD-BKK on QF295)

Took the BKK - SYD flight this week. I thought the Business Class seat was awful. I’m 180cm tall and had difficulty laying flat. I’m a side sleeper - no way was that possible with my feet ‘anchored in a tube. Food was fine, crew was good, entertainment less than adequate, no WiFi. Business Class not vfm, not worth it.

I'm taller, a side sleeper, and I love the Finnair seats. The two window seats right at the front have a teeny bit more room.

In fact, I prefer Finnair over just about everyone else. Not so much at the back of the bus, where the service is particularly spartan, but for racking up status credits and air miles in comfort, their J product is hard to beat.

Just checking … did you work out how to raise the middle flaps in the seat so you got the seamless flat bed? I can see how sleep might be difficult otherwise.

Is it just me or.......? My observation about QF presentation /plating of their J class meals (as seen in this review) is to say the least disappointing, particularly when compared to the likes of QR. Even the the menus (incl drinks) are chalk and cheese. I appreciate QF maybe saving the forests with their one page efforts, but......coming from one of the great wine producing countries of the world it's a bit disappointing that they simply state " Premium Australian wines......", so vanilla. Once again, QR (am I showing a bias?) produce excellent tasting notes on their wines selection. Maybe QF turn over their wines more frequently. I'm sure someone will offer an opinion......but then again, that's just my opinion 😉
Very much so.. like night and day; like chalk and cheese :D

I didn’t think QR lived up to its self-acclaimed ‘world’s best business class’. Won’t be flying them again.

Tasting notes? I get it if you are buying wine and want to have an idea before shelling out $$. But when the wine is free, and you’re able to sample different types to find the one you like, isn't part of the fun discovering your own tastes and imoressions?

Gosh. That looks like something I'd serve up. Not even a bit of gravy.

I haven't flown QR J, but I love their lounges. The Singapore one is a little gem, and their food presentation exquisite.

As for wine, I do like some basic tasting notes to help me decide what goes best with a meal that is often outside my normal diet. At least wth Qantas and their Australian wines I have a rough idea of how the thing will taste, simply by region and variety, and it's hard to get a bad drop anyway, at least in the front seats.
