AFF Review: Qantas A330 Economy (SYD-SIN)

These "reviews" really need to review the *actual* product sold. Using the reviewer's Platinum/P1/Diamond/Unobtanium status to get lounge access and take advantage of the priority perks is cool for him, but it is not reflective of the actual product, and I dare say that had the reviewer been stuck hanging around with the peasants in the main terminal the whole time, and not swishing through priority boarding lanes, his view of the experience would be much less favourable.

Similarly, how many other Y pax did the CSM come up to for a chin wag while waiting on the tarmac?

Maybe, but the review is the experience of the reviewer; it's written in the first person.

The lounge bit is actually disclaimed:

As lounge access is not a standard inclusion with a Qantas Economy ticket, the First Lounge is not a factor contributing to my rating of this flight. But I’ve included this information as it may be of interest to some readers.

A whole bunch of pax world have had QP access; or luggage checked in with the wait to collect it at SIN; or a screaming child in a bassinet; or various things not experienced by this reviewer. As long as exceptions from a typical experience are disclosed, I think it's reasonable.

It's not about disclosure; if you are reviewing an experience, and you replace some of the worst aspects of the experience that people would be buying, it defeats the purpose. It would be like a food critic reviewing McDonald's but having a Michelin chef come and cook a separate entree and dessert.

If you want to call it a "Trip Report" thats cool, but if you are going to call it a "review" and cover the whole experience from check in to baggage claim, then you need to review that product.
