AFF Review: Jetstar A321neo LR Economy Class (SYD-DPS)

You can also use redeem your Qantas points for Jetstar flights. A Classic Reward seat from Sydney to Bali costs 18,000 Qantas points and ~$136 in taxes & carrier charges. When flying on a Jetstar international Classic Reward, you get 30kg of checked luggage and standard seat selection.
I don't think you get a free seat selection with Jetstar using Qantas points.

Ok SO I recognise I will be in the minority here, but...

Just flew back on a the day flight DPS/SYD on the JQ A321Neo last week. Unfortunately it was a last minute booking and all the extra legroom seats were gone (more proof I guess that they should've done a small J, which I believe is upcoming on their XLRs?) so we were in rows 4, B & C.

The legroom is not great. The service perfunctory. The seats...are benches.

BUT the flight was not that long, and having a day flight ex. Bali is SO MUCH BETTER than the overnight horror (even on QF 330s) where the lights are only off for ~3 hours. We landed in Sydney a little tired and sore but nowhere near as bad as you do off the overnight flight, even on QF or GA.

Would I rave about the experience? No. But it really wasn't that bad. I had some movies downloaded on my phone and it went quickly enough. The neo is at least pretty quiet, and being a day flight most of the balibogans either missed it or were sleeping off their hangovers (compared to the overnight where I've been kept awake by screaming drunks more than once).

Biggest gripe would be the toilet queues which outside of service time were sometimes pretty long, but at least it was an excuse to stand and stretch for a while.

If you go into the experience expecting Air Frame La Premiere you're in trouble, but if you're realistic about what you're doing and what you've spent, it's not that bad, or that long.

Also - I would take this over an overnight QF 737 any day.
