There is no process, no precedent, and likely insufficient will , but it seems (arguably?) useful to suspend share trading on all International markets for 8 weeks.
So many small businesses are heading for the wall as the world grinds to a halt.
In au the banks are guaranteed , the gov't should immediately tie that indemnity to a command that banks keep everyone afloat until the crisis is over.
In a crisis , everyone loses sight of the bigger picture... :confused:
 
My post is dreamtime stuff anyway… but I opine that the government does / would effectively guarantee ( or underwrite) the 4 pillars because a major bank failure would be catastrophic for the country.
 
Will be interesting to see what happens.

Massive positive close in the US on Friday (on the back of the USA's Europe isolation).
Will we see the same in Australia? Eg. Will it be a positive by stopping Covid
Or a negative due to tourism impacts.
 
Decisive action might be exactly what the market is looking for. Who knows. It could go up or down 10% right now.

New Zealand - The New Zealand central bank slashed its benchmark interest rate by 75 basis

Not enough orders in the order book for the futures open yet to get any insights but volatility has got to ensue after this

Futures in the US are tumbling. It's going to be a rough week.
 
Its sad that there are so many prophets of end of days, people need to calm down this isn't world ending - China is already starting to come out of it slowly. People who keep cool heads with ability to think medium / long term will do very well in these times

Yeah, absolutely. Humans have the remarkable ability to adjust to a new normal, especially in extraordinary times. This too shall pass.
 
For those looking at BHP and can invest cost-effectively offshore, the below is worth a read. Given its hit the press it may be too late but a historically large spread between the UK and Aus listing of BHP.

Totally agree with this, and South Korea is following a similar pattern. Which proves isolation protocols can work. Given average incubation is around 5 days will be watching the Italian stats with interest to see if their introduced measures work.
 
With Europe a disaster zone tonight is it time for the G7 to shut down the share market for a few weeks or months? A correction was overdue but the senseless shedding of money isn't going to help a recovery.
