I know all these comments are making admin think ;). I don't think he thought he'd get the type of comments coming through - a nice surprise no doubt.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

I think this is a great resource and idea, although I 100% think it should only be accessible to paid up gold members of AFF (I am currently not but probably would for this resource).

I guess I think there should be some payment required for access as it spells out so clearly what many people spend hours trying to figure out themselves.
I agree, I'm not a paid member either, but have spend dozens of hours reading the forums to learn this stuff. There is definitely value in having it all laid out clearly like this.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

I have been mulling over the issue of what should be free and to whom.

On AFF we don't use content as a differentiator for different types of memberships. i.e. All AFF members have access to the same content. The difference between membership types is more about presentation (GOLD and SILVER members see no ads and have full use of the Apps) or financial benefits (GOLD members qualify for various discounts).

As I have mentioned elsewhere, we do reserve the right to charge for some Knowledge Centre content in the future. If we do that, it will apply across the board to all members.

Tried to access from my iPhone and got the message: The Australian Frequent Flyer Knowledge Centre is for the exclusive benefit of Australian Frequent Flyer members.
I'm logged in and still can't access.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

It seems that any AFF registered member can access this new site....my concern (as I have stated in person to the moderators previously) is that if one posts all the "tricks" there, and the "industry" can also access them, it won't be long before it gets shuts down...

So how can one access this information? If it's not published then even active silver or gold members can't get it.
There should be a way to publish sensitive information in a secure forum that gives access to active members who pay the annual fee.

boomy,
See the post above from admin.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

An interesting read, if only to neatly summarise the mess of various ff programs.

I did pick up an interesting tip though. Points on Alaska can be claimed for Oz domestic flights. 40,000 points for a J class return to any point in Australia on Qantas isn't a bad deal, especially if you pick up bonus points with your purchase. So thanks for that tip

Like many others on this forum, would have no problems paying for bona fide information which will save me money

I agree maybe its time for a couple of special deals as we all love to deal

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

I have found it very useful so far when I can't possible remember where I read something that is now relevant, then I remember that it's in the Frugal Flyer. Thanks for the hard work.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

This is exciting information indeed. I have only played with QFF & more recently Krisflyer points as my travel has only been Asia & Europe. I, for one, would be very happy to pay for detailed information on this topic through the forum or other avenues. I am nearing retirement & have no desire to go down the back of the plane for my future leisure travel. Looking forward to further development.

Well there is something for everyone in this Knowledge Centre. I had not realized how we could get to New Zealand so I need to show this to our managers.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

I'd really like it if it were a bit easier to re-download the ebooks after you've purchased them. I've lost one of the emails so I can't actually download one of the guides I purchased.

Send an email to support, and he should be able to verify purchase/resend.

Re: “Frugal Premium Cabin Flying” Discussion

We use a standard procedure when purchasing any downloadable product - ie. the purchaser receives an automated email with the download instructions after payment has been made.

Anyway... I have responded to your email with the information you requested
