AFF Decides: Best airlines by cabin class

The A320 J cabin (with 4 rows) has the most leg room I have ever seen for recliner seat. The FA are always smiling and very attentive. I like the spicy food. I also think that the "Silk route" checkin at CMB is great. I don't think the IFE is very good, but I usually read anyway. I guess I should have said best J for single aisle aircraft.

Thanks. Considering the flight (SIN-CMB) is on an A320 my expectations weren't that high - sounds like I have something to look forward to after all. :)

It's now been about a week since I started this thread. Thought I would tally up the votes so far.

The winners in each category are currently as follows:

First: Etihad by a mile, followed by Singapore Airlines
Business: Cathay Pacific by a mile, followed by Singapore Airlines
Premium Economy: Qantas, closely followed by Air New Zealand
Economy: Qantas, followed by Singapore Airlines

Interestingly, nobody has nominated Virgin Australia yet in any class of travel!

Anyone else want to cast a vote?

Yes yes - but has everyone voting actually sampled the full range? Everyone voting Etihad - have they also flown LH, JL, SQ and CX?

I'm really struggling with CX being the best business class... it's somewhat utilitarian... bare bed, limited food, no PJs. But good bed length, private and good IFE.

However - while CX is the bare basics, I can't really think of an alternative to take its place.

Ok, here goes.

F - Qantas, but only based on the one and only time I've ever flown F
J - Singapore or Qantas, very close, but probably just to Singapore for the service.
PE - Definitely Qantas
Y - I have to go left field here, Interjet. (yes an LCC, but!)
And the sole reason for that is the massive spacing (pitch I think it is called?) Almost PE in dimensions. Flew them just last month CUN - HAV return. Kept thinking that Jetstar or Tiger would squeeze an extra 20 or 30 seats on this plane. It was Sukhoi Superjet 100.

I'll put it out there having flown the new VA and QF J A330 seats a few times now and as much as it pains me I think I prefer the new VA seats. They are I presume an evolution of the Cathay business seats

I certainly find the VA seats more comfortable but the QF seats with the return on the aisle are more private

F: Can't comment as have only flown AA domestic F.
J: CX or JL Suites, if I had to choose it would be CX purely for the fact I've flown them more than JL (only once in the sky suites).
PE: Can't comment on this seat either as have only flown them once that I can remember and I thought there was little difference to Y (other than F&B which I don't care too much about).
Y: QF! Memory is overloaded with QF Y segments.

This is an outside the box one. Haven't done longhaul in Y on LX (have in J, and it was quite acceptable), only shorthaul Y, and well I like the chocolate they hand out (!). They often have good Y fares ex-SIN, and am curious what elevates them to the top of your list for Y travel, and whether worth considering?
From memory they had 10 across in economy on the A340. Nooooooo! Luckily it was only the BKK-SIN tag flight when AY had an unscheduled >9 hour delay many years ago.

Can only comment on economy class. But clearly Singapore air and Cathay pacific is my top options. Sorry QF , but I really hate your economy class seats (only tried the A330s) no QF Y for me

F - Bucket list only at this stage
J - CX
PE - QF
Y - QF/SQ

They get me at chocolate :) But yes, my experiences with them are primarily short haul out of GVA.

no airline has operated an a340 in that configuration.

Best first class = Ethiad
Best business class = Singapore airlines
Best economy = Air New Zealand.

After flying EY apartment SYD - LHR, SQ suites SYD - HKG and EK first AKL - SYD, EY's apartment product is very hard to beat and set's the bar (IMO). Pricing is also cheaper than SQ (SYD - LHR).

F - SQ suites ( QF, EK & QR next year to try)
J - CX, (but I do like BA backwards configuration & AY for supplying more pillows during a pillow fight)
PE - Qantas
Y - Qantas, (though Virgin over the weekend was fabulous)

LX? Only ever 2-4-2 on their 343s. Some carriers have 3-3-3 (such as air asia and other LCCs)

Their MD-11s on the route had an unusual 3-4-2 configuration.
I must be mistaken. Seat was very tight and legroom cramped. I thought it was 3-4-3 but it may well have been 2-4-2. I was in the G aisle seat the row behind bulkhead. Moron and friend in front reclined for the duration from taxi, ascent, descent and FA's did absolutely nothing.

This is rather pointless poll for anyone who hasnt flown every carrier. Saying 'Airline X has the best F because ive flown one other'?!?
