In Feb 2018 I started a thread "Thoughts for AFF Cruise #2."

With Covid and everything else going on it died away so I am looking at reinventing the wheel if a few people are interested.

I haven't looked at any specific cruises or cruise line yet other than thinking sometime in 2025.

Thoughts please everyone?

Just having a quick look and thus far this one stands out. Celebrity Edge

Our one and only cruise on Celebrity wasn't great so it could only get better.
Weve had fabulous celebrity trips on a Solstice class in Europe. We were booked to go on the Edge in June 2020. They resceduled to June 2021. Then they cancelled it. I dare not try again or maybe third time lucky.

Would be interested in a cruise within the Indonesian archipelago.

But if it is one in Oz, and includes Tas, I could offer a custom shore excursion - cheap, cheap!! I notice the Celebrity Edge cruise that straitman posted doesn't have any tours at Hobart. Coal River wine and cheese; east coast wine and seafood; Port Arthur ??

We could have had a lot of fun on the Virgin ship. Shame.

Is it going to stop the Hobart run?

My personal thoughts on planning this:
  • I would prefer to not travel with P & O Australia as whilst they can be OK it’s not unusual to get a big bunch of people on a booze cruise. If people wish to go with them I will go with the flow.
  • Avoid Carnival due to the kid’s factor.
  • Stick with ‘relatively’ smaller ships. Ie not Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas holds 4905 people.
  • Keep the price range where most people can go which then probably rules out some of the more petite lines such as Silversea, Seaborne & Azamara.
  • That leaves Holland America, Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian & Virgin Voyages.
HA, Norwegian & Virgin don’t seem to have anything that fits the bill.

Leaves Princess, Celebrity (or P & O Aust)

Short was the call but how short and where? Three through to nine days (or longer) are available.

Thoughts anyone/everyone?

I'd be happy on Princess, Celebrity and for a cruise 3-15 nights, although as a single, I wonder if a 'low single supplement' could be found, in which case it would have to be a short one for me (ie if I'm paying double). Unless, again, its a large ship which the per cabin cost will be lower than a small one.

I have same sentiments as @RooFlyer re the single supplement. I will be a single pax.

Celebrity Edge has single cabins. Met a fellow last month that often cruises Silversea and he really liked it.
I did a price check for the November Celebrity Edge cruise and the single price is not significantly cheaper than a cabin for two unfortunately.
