Was checking out the champagne fridge at my local wine retailer today and saw this:

The store owner was shocked when I told him JL offer it to their pax in F :)

Such a beautiful day in Melbourne, no better plan than to line up a tasting and settle in. Thought I'd share what we're up to this afternoon :)

I am flying QF J on Monday to DXB and am not looking forward to the swill they serve up as champagne... Perhaps I will ask the CSM for some Taittinger from the pointy end... Can't hurt ;)

And find them!

The Ruinart at least is all available on the moet-hennessey-collection website (the R, b de b, rose, and they just stocked the new Dom R). I've been looking for a few of the Clicquot and Moet vintages to try out recently though, and they seem to have all dried up! Even Dan's used to have a bunch of them.

The Dom Ruinart 2002 I had last year was amazing!

I really like Ruinart champs but it's hardly widely available in Aus. Vintage cellars had them but wa really expensive

If you ever buy Ruinart, be careful not to buy a bottle that has been on the shelf out of the box. The clear bottle makes it vulnerable to being lightstruck.

Como Wine & Spirits in the Como Centre on Toorak Rd, South Yarra has a reasonable Ruinart selection. Agree, it is hard to find and I do prefer the Ruinart R although Blanc de Blancs are amazing with food.

I did buy it... unlike some of the "instant friends" that came out of the woodwork once it was served..
I can't imagine buying it again though.. Much prefer a Belle Epoque for that price :)

Thanks for the tip Lizzi... Just grabbed a 6 pack including the R de Ruinart :)

Oh - and M-H-C was on the amex statement credit this month, so I hope you were able to use that too! :D

(I used mine to pick up, among other things, the R de Ruinart gift box with glasses for my mum for Mother's Day, which she was pretty chuffed with)

Actually couldn't process the order :( Couldn't get my welcome gift of $25 :( Will have to call them tomorrow.
Maybe that's for the best now you mention the Amex thing... that is a much better deal!
Thank you :)

I just took advantage of the Amex offer for a bottle of Dom Ruinart for Mrs_O's b'day :).
