Hi All,

I am currently Gold FF being 650 points shy of Platinum. Never been Platinum before, and didn't think it would be possible before my reassessment date of 31 December 2013. However, with the double status credits offer it seems possible since I only need 325 status credits to make it. I usually wouldn't be fussed, but I have some international trips next year and it would be handy to have F lounge access. I currently have 75,000 FF points. I would appreciate any advice on some good (cheap) possibilities for status runs to reach Platinum before the end of December. Happy to use points, cash, or a combination thereof!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Edit: I am located in Canberra

JASAs likely to be your best bet although will need some cash runs as well.
Going to a capital down south likely to be a good bet, and then maybe some post-Xmas cash fares.

Look at JASA to DRW via BNE or runs to from TSV.

I was in same boat as you 650 took the plunge on a DSC offer few months back, since savoured the 1st lounges in SYD and HKG with Mrs Lime, she was mighty impressed.

I have just been searching a status run from Townsville (am in Brisbane). Sydney to Townsville via Brisbane one way will get you 200sc with the double sc offer for 24 000 points.

I think one of the best runs from Canberra is probably to Hobart if you can find it but via Sydney, nabs you 100 status credits for 16,000 points but very limited availability.

Try looking at Canberra Broome Via Sydney and Perth should be around 300 to 360 s/c then doubled with the promo. have no idea about the points required.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice everyone. Now, I may have missed something obvious (i.e. probably have) but how on earth do I view ASA fares on the Qantas website? All I have found is the tick box that says "show in points" on the flight selection page which shows each fare in points rather than cash (which I assume is not award points, but the raw cash-to-points for that flight, since the points required are ridiculously higher than the required points suggested here). Clicking on the ASA link on the Qantas website just shows my FF profile too.

Any guidance for a reasonably new person to ASAs would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm also Canberra based and looking at going back to Gold. Best one I found is Canberra to Karatha run via syd and per.

It looks like the best status run will be CBR-SYD-BNE-DRW return in J. This will net me 320 SCs (so 640 SCs with the double SC offer). I need 350 to make Platinum, so only 10 shy which could be made up with a quick return trip to SYD.

Anyone have an estimation of the amount of points + cash needed for this run on a JASA? I have 75000 points at the moment, but probably don't want to use them all and would be happy to make a cash contribution.

I am also flexible with dates - anytime this month would work (my status reassessment is the end of December).

You will need to Ring and see what is available and suggest that you do it SOONER rather than later as not much of this month left and heaps of people looking to take advantage of the DSC
