Hi all I am hoping that some one out there can HELP!

My Partner and I are moving to Denmark mid this year for work. and I have been looking at the SAS EuroBonus FF scheme and lounge program they seem ok but I noticed that to enter there lounges it all seems a little crazy they have 2 types of lounges and to access them I believe you need to either be a Gold Star Alliance member or a gold Euro Bonus member, or be flying on a business or first class fare.

We are currently Silver QF members and Qantas Club members we fly often but not enough I think to make it to EuroBonus Gold. and we really enjoy using the lounges when we do fly, and really want to keep that option.

I was hoping that some one out there may know a partner airline of SAS that has a lounge program that would allow access to SAS's domestic and international Lounges or maybe another airline FF scheme and lounge program that could be used extensively in Denmark.

all advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Ngariman and welcome to AFF :D

SAS is part of the Star Alliance network. For general information go here www.staralliance.com or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Alliance

Currently the lowest qualification criteria for a Star Alliance Gold status is 35,000 status miles earned during calendar year with Air Canada's Aeroplan program awarding a status valid for one year from March of the next year.

Alternatively 50,000 qualification miles during a calendar year in Thai Airways Royal Orchard Plus program awards a status with two years of validity.

Therefore you could earn *G (and lounge access) if you took a star alliance flight (Singapore, Thai, SAS, NZ etc) to Denmark via e.g. Bangkok. Then you could take a short holiday (status run) from BKK to somewhere either on your way over or back e.g. LA. Combined with a return flight to Australia in a 100% mileage earning class, then you should have enough to earn star alliance gold if banked to AC's Aeroplan.

As a side issue you could ask AC prior if they would status match your QF silver status, and this would help too, though I'm dubious of any success here.

Unfortunately the only ways I know to get lounge access are
a) Be a V.I.P or
b) to earn it (*A Gold) on one of the airlines.

Perhaps others have more ideas?

BTW only one of you would need to do this as generally *G members are allowed to bring one guest into lounges.

If you're not going to fly enough to get status, or pay business class (which has access anyway); then only way to get access to lounges is a paid lounge scheme. Eg Priority Pass - note I dont know which particular lounges if any Priority Pass uses in scandinavia.

Read the link I posted above, and all will be revealed  .

They contract to lounge providers in many airports. You only have access to the lounges they contracted - some are great, others so-so.
