Hi everyone,
This is my first post, I have searched for a few hours now but have not been able to find my answer, I hope you awesome knowledge filled people may be able to help.

Husband and I are moving to NZ, we have one ticket, QF metal ADL-SYD connecting to LA metal SYD-AKL.

The QF sector is in Y
The LA sector is in J

LAN give 3 x 23KG bags per passenger, I understand there should be no issue interlining in Adelaide however I am unsure of what allowance would apply to the journey. I could understand Business to Business but not sure about Economy to Business.

Is there anything more on this journey that I need to know?

Thank you in advance:)

Day

Have a look under NOTE in this link.
International flight baggage allowance takes precedence.
Checked Baggage Allowance | Qantas
And if not members of QF FF/QFF, I would suggest you join.
You can join for free under EDR (Everyday Day Rewards), you don't have to tell EDR you are leaving the country.
Even though you don't get lounge entry under NB (Bronze) with QFF, you do get to earn points, and get some more baggage alloawnce too.

From the Qantas website:

Note: that if you have purchased international flights and domestic flights and these are on the same ticket, the international checked baggage allowances apply to the domestic flights too.

Is the LAN flight on the same ticket and booked under a QF flight number? If so, you should be fine.

Do you have any Qantas points? You could always upgrade on the ADL-SYD sector just to be sure (and enjoy business class the whole way...).

Thank you so very much AustraliaPoochie :) Your awesome:) #Confusionsolved:)

Mattg, Unfortunately it is a QF number followed by a LAN number, Same ticket just under each others native codes.
Originally we were going to drive ADL-SYD through the night to get on the morning LAN flight, we though about it for a week and you know its just soo long, exhausting and were bound to hit a Roo.
Our miles are with LAN :(

Your all awesome, thank you for being so kind.

You are welcome, Day.
She does mention they have one ticket, QF metal and LA metal, but yes, I made an assumption of one ticket.

Some bad and good news?

I'm not convinced that the link the Pooch has posted applies to the OP. That link specifically relates to "Qantas International Flights" and - as the OP has clarified - LAN are the International carrier.

However, wouldn't MSC rules apply in this case? As LAN are the International Carrier within the IATA Sub-Section, their baggage rules apply for the whole journey.

Yes, it *is* confusing - but I'm sure the OP is covered.

Regards,

BD
