I flew ADL-MEL yesterday on the 3.35pm flight (4.05pm EST).
Being prior to 4pm, there was no drinks service (other than via a $6 donation). However, people taking off from SYD at the same time and travelling to MEL could have availed themselves of the complimentary beverages.
Perhaps a suggested enhancement would be free booze on flights that depart after 4pm at the destination's time?
(i like a drink on the flight home, but don't really want to catch the later flight from Adl to Mel...)

I think you mean EDT or EDST, as SYD and MEL are now in daylight saving time. 3.35pm ADL time would be 3.05pm EST, which would have been the time in BNE! Given this scenario, origin time makes the most sense.

For the avoidance of doubt, it was 4.05pm Mel time. (probably more correctly AESST?)

And when your 1630 departure out of Sydney for Perth doesn't get served drinks what will you say then??

It's amazing how many people want "service enhancements" just because circumstances didn't suit them on a particular flight!

Exactly, this proposal means no drinks for flights departing SYD/MEL up to 4:30 pm to ADL and up to 7pm for flights to PER during Summer and 6pm during non- daylight savings.

For the avoidance of doubt, it was 4.05pm Mel time. (probably more correctly AESST?)

No! AEDT or AEDST. And the fact that you said MEL time makes the time "zoning" (not sure of the correct technical term) irrelevant.
