Well Indigo opened less than 12 months ago, looks nice and contemporary so shouldnt feel worn. I will do a mini trip report when the time comes.

Multiplex will be doing major works in the Adelaide Central Markets, also starting June this year.
Was in the Adelaide Now version of the Advertiser.
Might throw a spanner in the works for the OP.
I believe they gutted out the rooms of the Adelaide Hilton, and put new things in.
Location wise, its a great place, but with the major works next door starting, it might start to get noisy.
If its later June, then lucky for the OP.
If she only wants to use trams, and only one trip from city to Wayville and 2 hours later, one trip back, then can use visa/mastercard to tap the reader to pay for fares, like Sydney, but its not available on all buses yet, some do have it.

Im ok to walk for shorter trips and uber if its a bit further out, i will uber to/from airport. I've caught tram to Glenelg but I wouldnt bother during winter, as it wont be beach weather, more likely to do a wine tour.

O, last mumble from me, Indaily online paper, says traders at the Adelaide Central Markets were given letters to vacate last year!
I see, so you have been here before.
Ok, noted.

Most of the impacted traders have already moved out. The Market itself won't be impacted. As the trip is planned for early June then I doubt the noise will be an issue however it would be worth contacting Hilton to negotiate a deal in case. It is a good location for someone who doesn't drive.

It's the Market Arcade being redeveloped rather than the Market itself, so shouldn't be much issue with the market stalls and cafes within. Given it's a long weekend I can't too much happening even if they have started initial works by then.

But can't go wrong with the Indigo. A short stroll to the tram stop and plenty of eats along Gouger - probably realistically need more than a long weekend to eat ones way through Gouger Street 😁

Define modernised...
Good point, modernised can mean so many things.
Well hopefully updated furnishings, lighting, new TVs, from memory the bathrooms were okay last time I stayed. The restaurant at the Hilton used to be quite good too - I seem to remember the breakfast was great when I stayed there before, hoping that is still the same.

Got back from Adelaide this afternoon, and really enjoyed my stay at the Indigo.

Location worked for me, as was quiet, a few seconds walk to the Central Market and Chinatown for cheap eats, and 5 min walk to the theatre. No problems for tour pick-ups, but a decent walk to more popular restaurants at other end of the city grid (although trams are now free within the city limits, like Melbourne).

I loved that the rooms dont have carpet, rather a mix of tile and hardwood floors with a rug under the bed, much easier for housekeeping to keep clean. The shower (not a shub in sight) was spacious and had good water pressure, the king size bed was comfortable and the duvet had an actual cover (none of that quilt between two sheets nonsense), nice pillows (and a pillow menu), plenty of hanging space and proper hangers. The tv had chromecast, there were plenty of powerpoints, USB/USB-C and wireless charger, conveniently placed light switches, and when you hit the master off, the control panel for the air con also dimmed.

Despite having no status I was offered a late check-out (which I didnt need) and the included breakfast was tasty and filing - a choice from the a la carte hot options (i had big breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, rosti, toast, beans if you wanted ), unlimited barista made coffee, juice, a juice shot of the day and more toast, pastries, fruit, muffins, donuts from the buffet if your were somehow still hungry.

I would stay again.
