Forgive me if I am in the wrong place to place this question, this is due to newbie ignorance. I have 640K QFF points and my wife and I want to fly Adelaide to Glasgow return in mid May returning mid April next year. We are aged and a recent non stop economy (Dubai brief transit stop) return trip to Europe was awful to say the least. So, we would like to go business class this time ... Is there any advice out there that would help us achieve this please?

J (U Bucket) reward seats are not so easy to find unless you get in as soon as they are released (around 350 days ahead of the date you wish to fly). You will have to do searches around the various dates to see what you can find. I assume the months were a bit jumbled, and that you are going April/May 2016.

While QF will route you via Sydney on QF1 and BA to Glasgow, it is sometimes easier to find seats with other One World carriers (eg CX to MAN and then car/train to Glasgow). If you are serious about aiming for 2 reward seats, you need to get stuck into the searches now, but your chances for a busy route through DXB are not good.

You may even need to look at flights from Perth. I suggested this to a friend of mine and he found what he wanted and just booked 2 economy flights ADL - PER.

I'd look at using multi-city to build something like the following, and you've just got enough for F one way and J the other. An advantage of going via Perth would be getting the superior A380 J product if you can find it. But 777 J out of ADL would still be better than economy.

An example in the other direction... requires a hefty cash payment!

Qatar start flights ADL-DOH on May 3rd, using the new A350 - that would be my pick. From Doha they fly 787 to EDI, but not Glasgow. Qatar usually has 2-4 J seats available on most flights, just have to look on the British Airways award search tool.Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 12.31.36 pm.jpg
