Airport road access in 'chaos'
From: By Stuart Martin

THE new Adelaide Airport has had plenty written about its fuel delivery dramas and problems with access for regional airlines, but the road access has had much less discussion.

The lack of forward thinking for a purpose-built facility boggles the mind, given that it has been so long in the planning and implementation.

Having the double-storey setup has shown its worth in Sydney and Melbourne, but surely the traffic-flow lessons learned at those airports could have been put into place here. The lanes entering the facility are poorly laid out and the lane signage is far from clear.

<snip>

The new Adelaide Airport was supposed to be a world-class facility, an entry-point to the state that gave visitors a first-rate first impression of Adelaide and SA. It's not.

Can't get a decent break can they?

I like the new airport but I would have to agree with the summary on the road access. It is a little confusing and it seems that not a lot of thought has been put into the planning. They do have plenty of room for expansion though.

I agree with JohnK that the new airport is pretty good in most aspects however the arrivals/departures internal and external are weird at best. :roll: :shock: :wink:
