I've been asked to go to Denver for a 3 day seminar in March and I'm tossing up with booking the whole thing through QF or fly to LAX on QF and then do a separate booking for LAX-DEN return on Delta or someone else.

My gut says to do it on one booking with QF so that if there are any hold ups or delays at LAX or DEN, then they "should" look after me as it is all one booking.

Any comments from others one way or the other?

I normally have a day or 2 in LA when I go over and back, but this trip I'm thinking of going straight to Denver and back to save time (and some money!)

The only problem is DEN is not a major hub for AA so only 2 direct flights per day.Going over may be a bit of a wait at LAX as first flight is 1210.
However if you are chasing SCs you could do LAX-DFW-DEN and return.

I've done Aus-LAX-DEN a few times, with QF and UA (and via SFO with UA). One ticket is simpler, and then it's up to AA to get you to where you need to be. With QF/AA via LAX there is a bit of a wait until the first flight to DEN, as has been mentioned, but if you are a QP member, you can at least wait and shower in the Admiral's club at T4. And no need to lug bags around LAX, like when you change tickets.
If you've been to DEN a few times, then you'd know that you can get snow even in March. That would prompt me to want the one ticket, especially after not being able to fly MSY-DEN-LAX on UA in late October due to snow conditions in Den. To UA's credit, as soon as I found out about the delays in Den, I rang & they re-roured me thru IAD. Longer flying day, but I made my connection to my QF flight with no worries. My UA flights were to redeem points, so ticketed separately to my QF flights.
