For a child's QFF account, do Jetstar Asia flights , where no points are accrued keep the account active?

thanks

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

any points credited to the account will keep it alive no matter the source

if you're thinking of taking a flight make sure the fare will earn QFF points...

No points means no activity.

Get a Woolworths EDR card and link it to their account. Or install the Qantas tool bar.

Which reminds me to do some searches for the kids for September.

EDR (pity its set out like this, Coles FB took away the min spend of $30 to get to earn FB $) that you have to spend a $31 min to get 1 point, so its not all its worth it.
Plus, the kid would not have their own CC so, that first $30 spend, gets the kids account nothing.
I support the QF search bar suggestion, till the kid is older so they can get their own QCC, of course.
EDIT: (just noticed the OP is based in Singapore), plus what good is the EDR card in Singapore, where there are no Woolworths!

The point is to keep the account activity. Fly buys ain't going to do that.

I'm struggling to see how a credit card is relevant, the point is account activity not maximising points earn.

You never know, the OP might know someone in Australia who is willing to scan the child's EDR card against a $31 shop at Woolies. The OP might even have a trip to Australia coming up where they could shop at Woolies.

Just transfer the points out of the kid's account into yours.

Thnak for all the suggestions. I will be back in Sydney before year end and use an EDR at woolworths.

For the above response, this would not keep the account active though?

Spending $31 at woolworths with you child's EDR card being scanned will count as activity. Just make sure you check the last activity date on the child's Qantas account. Do you know when their last activity happened?

It's a tough road, that EDR though.
1 QF point per $1 spent, so if you buy $32, it's 2 points, $33 spent its 3 points, unless there are specials, ie, spend $70 and get 500 QF points etc.
I can never work that one out, does it mean total soend ie $100 to get 500 QF points, or $70 - $30 is $40 to earn that 500 points!

You are over thinking it.

Spend $70 to get 500 bonus points is exactly as it is written - 500 plus the 40 earned so $70 will get you 540 points.

You need to read the full sentence:

"Members can earn one Qantas point for every dollar spent over $30 in-store and online."

Personally I don't find spend $70 and get 500 points confusing. Spend $70 does not change into spend $100. That would be deceptive and illegal in Australia.

This is what I do with the kid's accounts. It means that it's all pooled so they can be actually easily be used (let's face it, I paid for the original tickets anyway), and it's no longer at risk of the 18 months thing.

At 18 months the account will simply be set back to zero, I don't think it's a big issue if the account does become inactive, I'm pretty sure you can get it reactivated if you like. It mainly has to do with QF not wanting a liability which will never be used.

Once the points are in your account its your account activity that's important. Presumably you keep your own account active, in which case there is no issue, the points just become yours like all your other points.

Thanks for all the responses. We will now have him fly within 3 months, so account will now be active. Part of the reason to keep active, is his lifetime SC are approx 1500, which I did not want to lose. One day should Qantas be around he may hit 7000 for lifetime Silver!

If you lose QFF points due to inactivity this shouldn't impact on Lifetime SCs accumulated.
