Would the following pattern allow me to achieve VA Gold status? I am family pooling with my wife and we just need one gold member so ...

Dec 2019 we fly business class SQ ARN-SIN-SYD which I think will earn (120 + 160) * 2 (via pooling) SCs = 560 tick
If Nov 2020 we fly 2 qualifying segments (pooled = 4) tick?
Would that achieve Gold? Would it commence in Nov 2020 for 12 months?

I presume we then have 12 months from Nov 2020 to achieve 400 SCs between us and another 4 segments to retain it. At the date of renewal we need 400 current SCs and 4 segments in the last 12 months.

Hopefully that's correct and all makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Assuming it's on a fare which is eligible for earn?

Even though I don't have any family pooling, I've heard that only points and/or status credits are pooled but not eligible sectors so you may need a status run... Or can you book the same SQ flights on a VA flight number instead?

Pooling means points and SCs go to the nominated flyer but not the sectors flown. You get credited for your own sectors but you dont get MrsPete's sectors flown.

Im in simiar situation, hubby will have 6 sectors flown (he needs 8) but enough SCs to requal platinum. He doesnt get my sectors flown so hes going to have to go to Brissy or Melb return one afternoon on the cheapest VA flights I can find.

EDIT: GOLD is the below so you should qualify for Gold in Nov 2020 if youve flown/and they are credited to VA:
SQ ARN-SIN-SYD (2 sectors) plus 2 qualifying segments in Nov 2020 = 4 sectors in 12mths flown.
We assess memberships on a daily basis to ensure you are upgraded as soon as possible. As soon as your balance reaches 500 Status Credits and you have flown four Eligible Sectors

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed.

Yes, my SQ fare is (D) so I just need to achieve 4 eligible sectors rather than 2 pooled.

Much appreciated.

Just to clarify ...
When pooling is setup, you receive the points or Points and status credits.
The recipient of pooling will gain 0 eligible sectors.

An example - 2 PAX pooling with PAX B pooling to PAX A.

If they fly together on a simple return trip earning 10SC and 2000 Velocity per sector, then after travel:

PAX A: 40 SC, 8000 Velocity and 2 Eligible sectors,
PAX B: 0 SC, 0 Velocity and 2 Eligible sectors.

Fantastic. That's crystal clear. Thanks for your help.

One more question, I'm looking at a flight AKL-SIN. Sold by SQ, SQ flight number, NZ metal. Does this still count for VA accrual as an SQ flight?
