The last two days has witnessed the demise of the QF international to cairns with the final Tokyo Narita flights originating from Sydney and Brisbane with stops both ways in Cairns. :(

Yesterday I missed the final flight SYD-CNS by one day and opted instead to use the weekly BNE stop in the QF 019 Manila service to position to Brisbane followed by the evening domestic service BNE-CNS after a lengthy stay in the domestic J lounge. At least this enabled a hearty breakfast in the SYD FLounge, an opportunity to see Ms Platy onto her LAN flight home to Brazil via SCL and to watch the coming and going in the newish BNE domestic J lounge.

Anyway, in these circumstances I actually watched the arrivals guide for Cairns on the BNE-CNS flight for the first time in however long. It quickly struck me theat this was riddled with "inaccuracies" (restaurants no longer exiting or have moved, outdate taxui fare examples, etc, etc). Given the impetus and expenditure by local tourism groups and the state government and the suppsoed new cooperation with ther airlines it surprised me that this video guide remains as an ancient record of former times.

It also got me wondering - have others bothered watching the arrivals guide for their respective home citiers recently? How up to date are they? Are any inaccuracies trivial or significant?!

Are these guides the sole responsbililty of QF or do they cooperate with local agencies to create them?

Whatever the answers IMHO it would certainly help the local tourism industry if the CNS guide was more up to date!!!

Watching the MEL arrival guide earlier this month I noticed it is quite new and certainly up to date - even with instructions on how those with eligible travellers with chipped passports can employ the latest smartgate systems.

As Qantas' flight arrival times should be published under the 'Fiction' section nowadays, I wonder how useful an updated schedule would be? I know it's the end of the year, but the delays seem to get longer, more consistent, and increasingly more annoying!

Thanks Serfty and Evan for the info. Hopefully the CNS edition will receive a makeover soon.
