Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Hi all, am currently an Accor Plus traveller tier member. Renewal is coming up, and trying to decide between Accor Plus Explorer or Discovery.
I can see that the only difference is that Discovery includes
  • 'Amazing cruise, tour and wine offers worldwide'
Can anyone speak to the actual value of the offers in their experience?
Additionally, when I paid for my original membership last year, it was with my Accor points rather than cash. Is that option now unavailable?

Did you consider the recent offer someone was talking about joining AccorPlus and guaranteed silver membership for around $249 per annum ( regular price of $299 per annum).

Fb has a sponsored ad, Accor Plus Traveller for $249 @andgucps ( post #621)

Given the variable nature of benefits without a free night no guarantee to get more value than the price paid.

Thanks for pointing that out, however I do see that the renewal price for Accor Plus Traveller is already $249 on the website.

I suppose since the Accor Plus Explorer Membership is only 389 AUD from renewal ($140 more) it really is a no-brainer as long as I book a hotel that is more than that a night (very likely). Have to weigh up the inflexibility...

I suppose there is no way to pay for it using accor points. Renewing Accor plus also gives 20 status nights still right?

It appears you can pay with points @andgucps - Fb sponsored ad todayScreenshot_20231109_160938_Facebook.jpg

Can also confirm that I got the 2nd batch of 20 nights as part of the Accor Plus promotion earlier on in the year (November anniversary).

Problem is there is less than 2 months left before it resets 😅 .

For context:
I have a reservation for February '24, made prior to joining Accor Plus.
After joining Accor Plus I called to have discount applied on Friday, she was unable to modify that booking, so a new booking was made and I requested cancellation of initial booking.
Both bookings still on my App this morning.

I did not answer my phone just then, London calling.
Fortunately left voicemail to say Accor system update.
My request over the phone on Friday to Accor Plus reservations to cancel initial booking could not be processed at present, but I can cancel my duplicate reservation online.

Mystery solved - reservation cancelled - good follow-up ✔️

Can you please confirm that your anniversary date is 30 Nov (and not 31 Oct) and that you got the 20 nights credited at the time you paid for your renewal?

There's a comment earlier in this thread saying that the 20 nights only gets credited after the anniversary date.

I will push for platinum if the 20 nights gets credited at the time of payment.

So, in 2023, you've got 20+3 = 23 nights - Silver.
Then in Jan, another 7 nights = 30 nights - Gold until renewal at the end of September.
From October onwards (assuming no more nights), you drop down to Silver - is that correct?
Revisiting the above scenario, but let's change the renewal date to Feb 2024 instead of Sep 2024.

Does this mean that the account holder will be Gold for only one month before dropping back to Silver in Mar 2024? Doesn't Accor give you at least an entire 12 months to experience a status level once you reach a higher tier?

Edit: Never mind, the Accor website suggests that you do get at least a year to enjoy a change in status. So in the above example, qualifying for Gold in Jan 2024 means it will be valid until Feb 2025.

** Obtaining a higher status:
Your status changes as soon as you meet one of these conditions.
The good news is that if your status changes during the year, you retain that status until the end of the following year.
Example: If you reach 30 Status Nights on June 1st 2023, you will have Gold status until December 31st 2024.

My anniversary date is 30 Nov, I renewed a few days ago and the extra 20 nights (second batch) have appeared in my account. I’d requalified platinum already, and now I’ve done it on nights as well as points. Worth knowing if you’re a few nights short of a status dream with renewal coming up.

Cheers skip

If I book a hotel with free cancellation and use some of my points and cancel before time, do I can my points refunded?

I've used points before but never cancelled.

i recently used my points to reduce the price for a stay, although i did stay and pay, the booking was cancelled in my online account. The points were refunded back to me when this occurred.

I was hoping I could ask the brains trust on a renewal question.

I’m Accor platinum, and I *might* hit diamond by 31 Dec. I have a stay from 27-31 Dec which should push me over. I am very unlikely to renew plat or diamond on spend or nights next year (this year we did a long trip at Sofitel Fiji which basically covered the spend to reach plat)

My Accor plus renewal is 30 Nov.

So if I renew Accor plus does this mean for 2024 I’ll be diamond, then renew Accor plus on Nov 2024 and be diamond until Nov 2025?

Second question - Accor plus renews in 2025 would this be a soft landing to Plat or will I just go back to whatever status was earnt? Eg I might drop back to silver

Just weighing up when/if I renew, or if I let it lapse and maybe “buy” a new Accor plus via the Amex platinum at some point
