Ok thanks. What's wrong with the Sofitel? The rooms or the service or both? :)

Both imo. Rooms are terrible imo. Bathrooms from last millenium. Beds so soft you almost fall through them. The pullman rooms aren't much better but at least they respect the accor rewards program

Pullman is about 200 metres from Museum train station. I would stay there over the Sofitel I have been at both.

Ok thanks. Is it far to walk from Pullman to say qvb or Pitt st mall?

You walk through Hyde Park to Pitt St Mall about 10 min it is closer than Sofitel to the locations you mentioned.

Thanks. Hopefully I can get lounge access on a Saturday and Sunday at Pullman Hyde park.

Mercure Potts Point via Wotif mystery deal.

Upgrade to a Superior Harbour View Room and late checkout.

Pullman Albert park at the moment- plat recognition (emailed beforehand to check what was offered), advised exec lounge 'closed til further notice' upon checkin. Given breakfast for two in restaurant and two drink vouchers. Same room but on a high floor, with a Lake view. Good value for price, but would really like lounge to be open (or more drink vouchers!). feels like AFL central.

This lounge closure really isn't good enough...

It's just a cop-out from the management/owner I think. Last time I was in an exec lounge...I had more than two drinks! :D

I hear that the manager thinks it's "too expensive" to run on weekends...

I've just been told that it's only closed when it's quiet...so I guess I should make myself known when I'm there, I really want to check it out.

I think people need to get on twitter/social media... amazing what can happen with a bit of exposure. :)

Maybe... It is a bit sad it seems to be closed during weekends. Two drink vouchers is not a match for lounge access. I guess 4 vouchers per day for 2 people is a fair compensation.
It is discouraging. You could always say you would move to the Hilton cause you know lounge access would be guaranteed over there if executive or diamond.

I agree. Is Friday night considered a weekend? It was closed then too. Anyway, a tripadvisor/ Facebook note might be in order.

The Albert Park Pullman manager needs some training at the Pullman Brisbane to see how it’s done…

Had a shocker of a stay at the Pullman Brisbane actually. The only redeeming factor was the service recovery by the manager after the fact. Will see if they get it right in a couple weeks.

Anyone have experience with Sofitel New York?

I'm heading to JFK soon and Amex currently has a deal where you get benefits similar to the usual FHR properties at various Sofitel properties:

-Upgrade
-Breakfast for two
-$100 food credit
-Late checkout

As much as I would like to stay at the Mandarin Oriental, prices are tad ridiculous on the dates I'm in town ($1500+ p/n) so I'm considering booking at Sofitel but I've never stayed at any Accor chain before so I've no idea what to expect.

How good are they with offering Platinum benefits? Reading this thread seems to suggest that Sofitel seems a bit shoddy at offering Plats with benefits (I'm Accor Adv Plus Platinum, courtesy of Amex).

I think my stay will most likely be at the Sofitel NYC, or the new Langham Place through FHR or perhaps even the new Park Hyatt NYC that is to open.

I don't have any experience at Sofitel New York however I find it's the Australian properties that really don't like giving any benefits for Platinum. You could always email/call the front desk and ask if they participate or what they provide.

Yep. I might do just that.

Really curious whether they have a exec lounge as well.

Will report back here if I do end up staying at the Accor property.
