Accor Hotels is offering staff rates to firefighters, emergency service workers and volunteers in Australia that helped out in dealing with the bushfire crisis over summer. The discounted rates are available until December 2020 at any Accor properties in Australia.

Thanks, passed it on to two of our friends that are in the fire service & SES

Oh, no. Now the scammers will screw this up for those who deserve it. 😳

This will get slammed. I think they require some proof of service at check in. Seen this on a few websites now. 😳

TBH I can stoop pretty low - but I could not do this when in reality I am not entitled to do so - we all gotta look in the mirror sometime so one would hope it does not get slammed by anybody who is not entitled to take advantage of this offer.

Unfortunately there some in society who would take advantage of this with no compunction. The type of people who grab a banana from the free for children fruit box at Woolies, take newish looking stuff from Vinnies donation bins, park in disabled car spaces without permit or take not one but the whole damn box!!! of doggie poo bags at the council dog park... 😳

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

ID doesnt prove they volunteered or were anywhere near a fireground. Either way still smart marketing if they get rooms booked during current risk on climate. Revenue is revenue...👍😷

Dont they ask for some sort of ID to qualify at checkin?

I would imagine its similar to using corporates rates that you are not entitled to: you might get away with it with some properties, but if they ask for your work ID to check eligibility on checkin, then you will be asked to either pay the BAR rate or get your booking cancelled and leave you stranded on the day.

Previously worked for Accor, the staff rates were slightly cheaper before $ 50 for Ibis, $70 for Novotel / Mercure & $90 for Sofitel with the later now $130 although still.

Can anyone share their experience on booking this & if ID was requested? It would be a slow time for hotels except for hotels with quarantine guests so they're obviously keen for revenue.

Yes was asked to provide my emergency services ID on check in which I had. Had a look at my id and me....all good

I wonder if this will be renewed? Any insights? Thinking possibly not due to travel increasing however emergency services and front line staff still VERY busy...nothing has stopped.

Yes they do check - because sadly some morons tried to scam their way in posing as first responders and use this rate. Seriously.... some people....

Through a friend - heard that at a Mantra on the GC they caught some people, their rate was cancelled, they were offered the best available new rate at 6X the price. Apparently they left rather hurriedly.....

Just can't believe that people take advantage of that...and that they think they won't be caught. I am asked for ID and the small print states that you must show your ID on check in. Easy enough to show that you are eligible.

Agree. Some people are disgusting and stupid!

Nice that they were checking.

I’ve stayed at multiple properties under the promotion and always had my ID with me but interesting have never been asked to show.

The closest I had was one property asking if I worked for Accor and I’m guessing their system showed it has a staff booking rather than emergency services.

We used it twice and were checked both times. I’m glad they are checking.
