Accor Le Club Loyalty Program is changing in 2017

But you can buy gold with the ibis business card right? And at least access those benefits immediately, and it means all your stays you'll earn gold bonus points for rewards instead of having to work up to it?

My Accor Platinum membership came courtesy of the Amex Platinum Charge. Although this started well, it's apparent that it's going to be of no use to me after February 2017. :(

Anyway, I will be relying on Hilton again it seems. I may be able to keep up my HHonors Diamond status for awhile, or I will have Gold at worst in any case, for the foreseeable future.

I had found the Accor program very useful and it's a shame what they are now doing to it, from my view of course.

I bought a plus card in Sept and made platinum by November. It really is all over the place, even for a genuine user. I can spend $500 in Sofitels and get more points doing a survey, or I can spend $500 in a bali Mercure and get 8000 points. Some of the bonuses inflate badly and legitimate use is not recognised.

I wasn't going to bother with the HHonours status match, but I applied after I saw the changes.

I'm 4000 points away from 50000 points 6 months in. Half of that is legitimate stays. If there aren't any decent carrots dangled, I will jump the shark quicker than fonzie.

The only remaining options is to hit WP as many times as you can between now and 31 December 2016. I'm aiming to hit WP by the 31st to give me a full year as WP. The unknown is what promotions they will run under the new scheme. Hopefully they do double status credits.

To be honest, as a platinum with approx 80-90 nights a year at Accor, I'm hoping this will translate into more consistent benefits as it limits the number of Platinum members. I'll be ticked off if it remains the same as it currently is, especially with recognition in Australian hotels, especially in Adelaide (rarely an upgrade).

It will make Platinum a smaller club, and hopefully they will bring in Lifetime Platinum as well.

Agree changes don't look good. Made Platinum last year courtesy of promotions but have not seen a single promotion this year and hence no stays at Accor properties.

Going forward I will still book cheap Accor properties in Thailand when breakfast is offered with the room.

The new offerings are far too complex for this rooster, and all over the place with points earned and recognition, hello Hilton Diamond/Gold.......

I am Plat with Accor until Nov 16 so will see if they extend it for a year ....

Tried the Playford in Adelaide? I always full plat benefits and upgrades.

Once converted to AUD using the xe conversion rate as of Saturday 2 April 2016, the required expenditure in AUD is as follows:

Platinum - $8260.44
Gold - 4,124.76
Silver - 1,178.09

Yet, earning from scratch today (without bonus points offers), required expenditure is:
Platinum - $11,000
Gold - $ 5000
Silver - $1470

So from scratch, without bonus point offers it would seem easier.... For retaining platinum the number is similar - $8360 today>

The big negative seems to missing out on bonus points offers counting - which actually brings it into line with the likes of spg & hilton.

Ditto. Property is a bit tired but the staff are very attuned to status guests in my (slightly dated 2015) experiences.

For the past few years, I have reached and maintained Accor Platinum status by virtue of staying 60+ nights each year in the relevant Accor properties. Many of those nights have been at relatively inexpensive Ibis/Ibis Styles/Mercure properties in France and Germany - and often these hotels are among the better hotels in some of the smaller cities. As a result of my Platinum status, I've had numerous upgrades and freebies during my stays at various Novotels and Sofitels.

My Platinum membership has just been extended from the end of March 2017 to the end of December 2017, as promised by Accor. I'm looking forward to maintaining this level, probably by virtue of the 60+ nights method.
