Stays should be eligible for Accor A|Club, I think. If you're not a member sign up using the BONUS500 promotion code and get 500 free points.

I'm an A|Club and Advantage Plus Member and not only do I get a discount off these rates, I also earn 50% more points with the A|Club.

I find it's like "double dipping".

I've been with Advantage Plus for several years now.
Joined up with A-Club, and they sent me out a Platinum card.

Got online, and transferred over a few thousand 'old' Sofitel points that were 'rotting away'.

Had a Govt. job for several months this year, and stayed at Mercure Sydney for 42 nights.

According to promo for A-Club, Mercure was supposed to pay " double points " until 31st. December 2008.

So far, I just can't get anything out of the whole affair !!

A-Club state, it's not their fault that I don't have the points transferred by the hotel. Mercure says, they will 'look into it', but nothing has happened.

A telephone support person from A-Club suggested, that because I had a Sofitel Privilege card, I got the Plat. A-Club card, and I will only get points if I stay at Sofitel hotels !!

Thus, it seems there are TWO types of A-Club cards.... those that are 'Sofitel' cards, and those that are 'non Sofitel' cards.

Anybody else found this?

Mercure check in staff kept telling me, that even Govt. staff who don't pay for their own accommodation will still get the A-Club points.... but they don't seem to eventuate !!

regards,
GORDO

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The original email I got from Sofitel indicates that points will be earned at all the particpating Accor properties. Some questions:

1) Were any of the stays on Adv+ rates?
2) Did you pay the hotel and claim back, or was it paid directly by the govt?
3) When did you join A|Club in relation to the stays?

and last, but not least

4) Is it actually worthwhile being a member of Adv+ given your other issues?

The stays were at a so called ' Govt rate', which I found out to be $162. per person ( as we each had our own room ), which included breakfast. That rate seemed to be 'rack', as I most certainly could of done cheaper via Member of Advantage Plus.

The Govt. department paid via their own internal system, thus on the tax invoice, it showed no accommodation charge. We paid our own expenses, and were given a flat rate of $450. per week for dinner and lunch.

The thing was, the check in staff knew exactly who I ( and other Govt. employees ) were. They encourage all of us to join A-Club, because the Hotel will still award the points.

I've spoken with Manager of Mercure Sydney. They still haven't done anything about it. Will get back to him again this week.

Advantage Plus was very handy during the eight week course in Sydney.
50% off dining in house, allowed my wife to eat for free, while the NSW Tax Payer paid for me !!

GORDO
