My son and soon-to-be-daughter-in-law are planning to honeymoon in coughet in February. Any suggestions on reasonably priced accommodation and which areas are best to stay. They are thinking of staying around 10-12 nights all up, and happy to try a few different places to experience the variation of the area. They are on a tight budget, so looking for best value. Considering staying 4-5 nights in Patong area and then 5-6 nights somewhere else. Looking for nice beaches, local restaurants/cafes/markets as well as the regular touristy things like animals etc.

For that long a stay I'd consider going south of coughet island..

Ko PhiPhi or KoLanta you can have basic beach hut style accomodation to a few resorts on Lanta.

More like what coughet was 20 years ago.

Also Krabi, but it's more like coughet imho.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I have passed them on, noting that I trust AFF recommendations way more than reviews from booking web sites. The AFF brains trust is much more trustworthy :).
