It’s nice to have more flights starting up and heading around a bit with work. But man I miss the lounge, I’m not sure why the smaller regional ones haven’t opened.

So when they do kick off again, I wouldn’t mind making the most of it, by which I mean accessing the lounge on arrival rather than just before leaving. When I have time to kill it seems like a nice place to do it.

Is this allowed as a qantas club member and how does one go about it?

How do people do this in regional lounges where They are unstaffed and a pin code is only provided on your boarding pass?

Thanks for any insights!

Regional lounges are usually only open one hour prior to departure, even WPs/P1s can't get in on arrival unless there is an imminent departure.

Thanks guys for your help. Oh well in ten years when I get platinum status... :)

Well I'm at CFS right now, and the lounge is closed. Not only that, but the whole section around the entrance to the lounge is barricaded off.

The same is in Tamworth.
I’m really not sure why given that the current social distancing measures would allow for far more people than I have ever seen in that lounge, and they don’t even have to staff it

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Perhaps completing required fleet restart maintenance, double checking pilot certifications, organising SIMs, creating schedules & selling tickets to get the airline back in the air and managing out of control phone queues with severely reduced head office staff are taking priority over regional lounges.

Planes in mothballs all over the place needing to be readied.

Isn't it more likely QF cost cutting - or maybe cost reductions - having taken a massive hit on revenues and still close to where they "should be"?

That too. But I can only imagine what it would be like at present trying to ramp up the airline to the schedules they have uploaded in the last week or so since the smell of state border lifting was in the air. They must be scrambling beyond belief.

I doubt the people who do all the tasks you mentioned above have anything to do with operating a the lounges. It's clearly cost cutting.

The people that coordinate all that function might all be currently working at woollies or at home.

I doubt opening regional lounges is on the first couple pages of the senior managements "to do" list.

More recent reports:

Can confirm as QF Platinum was able to access both CBR & SYD lounge on arrival on 26/02. To be noted, that I had return tickets for the same day, a few hours apart.

On arrival in CBR, went to the QF lounge. Club is closed, so everyone access the Business lounge. At the door, I mentioned to the staff that I just arrived from SYD and showed by QF BP. Before scanning the BP, he asked if I had a return ticket for today. I had one & I scanned the return BP instead to access the lounge. I wonder, IF, I didn't have a return ticket for the same day, would I still be let to use the lounge?

Spent 2 hours in the lounge, went to a meeting in the city and came back in an hour - scanned the same BP again, was welcomed back.

The lounge in CBR was NOT crowded when I first visited in the AM hours, but was VERY CROWDED when I returned in the PM hours

On arrive in SYD, went up to the lounge - scanned my CBR-SYD BP, no issues, no word was spoken. Was welcomed back.

The lounge in SYD was ALMOST FULL in the evening, yet, didn't have an issue accessing it
