Hi all,

Heading to Europe Wednesday - and have just heard some horror stories from work colleges about not being able to access Hotmail overseas - wanting to authenticate the user with a text as the logged in from a different location- they did not have roaming to receive the text and hence could not access their account for the whole trip.

Any idea if I will have the same problem accessing through the "Mail" app on my Iphone 5? I will be using a local SIM in each country and not have roaming on my number. Will it think I am in a different location? What about my Ipad?

Of course I can print out all the relevant emails now - but it is the email contact I have given all the hotels/tour operators to contact me on.

Thanks for your help.

You are able to setup authenticating with another email account rather than a mobile phone number? I believe it is in account settings.

I have been using Hotmail overseas for many years. I have roaming enabled on my mobile but I have also used authentication via a Gmail account.

You should have no problem using the Mail app on your iPhone, I did so while overseas with no problems. Just make sure you have everything set up properly (including sending - sometimes becomes an issue with authentication) before you go overseas. iPad should be just the same.
