Air Canada joins several other major airlines introducing "premium economy" seating, which offers more leg room, priority boarding and refundable tickets at higher prices.
The premium cabin will be introduced on Air Canada's Montreal-Paris flights on July 11, and added onto more routes as new aircraft enter the carrier's mainline fleet.
Air Canada, whose main domestic competitor is WestJet Airlines Ltd, also said it would add five new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to its fleet.
Air Canada's stock, which has surged 74 per cent in the past year, was unchanged at $C2.45 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Thursday.

They've also announced a new J - staggered like SN / LX rather than the current herringbone.

In addition, Y will be going from 3-3-3 to 3-4-3, just like EK and NZ.

..the old Satan's Cesspit to Satan's toilet run!! :p

I said it in another thread but I do think AC is an airline to compare QF to. Canada has a similar size population, and remote capital cities. The US airlines are competing to take Canadian's into The USA....and AC's biggest competitor domestically went bust in 2001.

Perhaps I'm being a little naive and underestimating the impact of The USA on Canada.

The 3-4-3 as far as I am aware won't apply to the existing 777-200LR's just yet for the SYD-YVR run, only going 3-4-3 on the 777-300ERs.

What works in favour of AC on international routes is that there are no outbound immigration checks in Canada and most people simply want to avoid transiting through the US even if it means buying more expensive tickets.
