Abu Dhabi Accomodation recommendations?

Hi all, I am hoping you may have some recommendations for staying in Abu Dhabi?
I will be in Abu Dhabi on business for 3-4 days. Looking for a 4 to 5 star hotel, preferably with beach frontage ( but not essential) Close to restaurants. Any suggestions greatly appreciated....

2 words....Emirates Palace.

And if that's out of the budget, at least stop by, have a look around and have dinner there, its beautiful.

The Intercon's quite good too.

Hi travel guru... Thanks for the tip... Just got back and emirates palace was awesome..... Had a great stay and experience... But must say that in general Abu Dhabi still has a long way to go to compete with Dubai...

So glad to hear you enjoyed it, I wish I knew you were going, I would have got you complimentary upgrade and amenities via Virtuoso.

It's definitely an amazing property.

You're right it still has a way to go, but its nice to see they're really focussed on culture, when everythings complete it should have a much nicer feel to it than DXB.

Best frequent flyer program if living in Abu Dhabi

Hello,

I'm relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks time and was wondering which frequent flyer program to sign up with. I am already with Qantas FF program and Krisflyer but I gather that most of the flights out of ABu Dhabi are with Etihad. So should I sign up with Etihad? Or is Emirates still an option? I believe Emirates fly mainly out of Dubai and Etihad out of Abu Dhabi.

Does anyone have any experience with Etihad frequent flyer program?

ANy advice is most appreciated.

If you plan frequent trips back to Australia, any of Velocity (Virgin), Etihad or Emirates are fair game.

I'd suggest it's easier in and out of AUH (1hr drive to DXB from Abu Dhabi) so I'd be going for Velocity (if most trips to Aust) or Eithad (if most trips to EU).
