Wow. Many pilots say that landing at Perth airport is one of the more difficult assignments when weather conditions are good. This must have been a nightmare for the passengers. I would have been cradled up to a bottle of bourbon or tequila. Lucky it wasn't Qantas involved, there would have been an outcry of epic proportions

Airliner's mid-air drama revealed - The West Australian

The issue first reared its head in 1999 after a QF747 (VH-EBS) suffered a runway strike whilst landing on 24/06. Having declared TOGA on a previous landing attempt on 03/21 due to rolling winds off the Darling Scarp.

The same wind conditions were in effect on the 24/06 landing, causing the plane to touch down with a left wing low altitude and thus the Number 1 engine to scrape for 30m along the runway surface.

I think I would be touching cloth if I was on a 737 and the Captain announced we'd be diverting to Rottnest Island.

Wait Awhile

Gee Rok, if you werent from Perth, I would be insulted. Look, we have 24 hour electricity now, well most suburbs do and we may even get Sunday trading before the next millenium and who knows, we may even get an airport that can handle all the extra planes that MMA, TAA & Compass are putting on. Looking forward to getting broadband internet anytime soon also so you can see that Wait Awhile is so far off the mark. Oops its 9.30pm, gotta tuck in now.:p

You have 24 hour electricity??? Geez your lucky, I'm hoping that CBA will be able to get a fax machine soon so that they can receive my loan application and them submit it by Morse Code to the far off eastern states to be approved so that i can go to the actual branch to receive enough money to get a toiled that is attached to the house instead of crossing the asbestos made Garden to use the loo.

But here's hoping.

Western Power on the other hand have promised to call me back within 3698 days to investigate the possibilities of getting electricity.
