Are any members familiar with AARP, and are there any advantages for Australians joining up or is it mainly of benefit for US residents?

I did belong to AARP for a few years. Now though I get most of the benefits since I am over 65.
However you can join up AARP from age 50 so certainly if between 50 and 60 it is well worthwhile joining up.
Some places define senior as 60 and over, some it's 62 but over 65 no worries.
A couple of times when the age alone doesn't get me the discount I flash my QLD senior's card with good results.
